O’Quinn scores school record for Lady Falcons
After a disappointing result for Lee Christian against crosstown rival Grace Christian on Monday, the Lady Falcons rebounded in a big way with a 12-3 win at Cresset Christian.
On Monday, the Lady Falcons were without five players due to sickness. Lee Christian had some of their players back on the pitch Tuesday to get the Carolina Christian Conference win.
Whitney O’Quinn set a single-game school record with seven goals in the 12-3 victory.
“Whitney’s single-game performance on the soccer field was the greatest I have ever been a part of as a varsity women’s coach,” said Lee Christian head coach Eric Davidson.
“On her first goal, she brought the ball out of the air with a header for a full volley to the back of the net, absolutely incredible,” he said.
O’Quinn, a senior, did not play in Lee Christian’s first match of the season due to an ankle injury suffered in the last game of basketball season and saw limited action in the Lady Falcons’ second match of the season at Jordan-Matthews. She is still returning to her form, Davidson said, but has 16 goals and eight assists in seven matches this season.
Makaila Gillum scored a hat trick, the first hat trick of her career, and had an assist in the win. Cameron Dubuc had a goal and an assist. Haley Draughn scored a goal. Skylar Dubuc had three assists with O’Quinn getting two assists and Lauren Lane adding an assist.
Lee Christian (3-5, 3-2) has won three of its last four matches. After Easter break, the Lady Falcons will return to action with six straight home games beginning with hosting CCC opponent Community Christian on April 9.
