Sophomores earned both Player of the Year honors and many more all-conference players will return for the next basketball season, or two, in the Cape Fear Valley Conference as the league's coaches announced the conference's 2013-14 honors following Union Pines bowing out of the ladies' state tournament Thursday night.

Terry Sanford's Isaiah Stallings, a 6-foot-3 sophomore forward, was the boys' Player of the Year. He averaged 15.1 points and 7.6 rebounds per game as the Bulldogs won the CFVC season championship.

For the Lady Bulldogs, 6-foot-1 sophomore center Ona Udoh was the CFVC Player of the Year after averaging 14.4 points, 12.2 rebounds and 2.7 blocks a game. Terry Sanford won the tournament title and junior point guard Courtney Roulhac joined Udoh on the All-Conference First Team.

Southern Lee senior Jordanna Kalkhof made the All-CFVC First Team. The Lady Cavs' main long-range shooter scored 12.4 points a game, made 60 three-pointers on the season and averaged 2.2 steals a game.

Union Pines, the CFVC season champion with an 11-1 conference season mark, had two first-teamers. Senior forward Tiffany Hicks averaged 7.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game and sophomore center Stephanie Johnson had 13.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. The Lady Vikings finished 24-5 overall and reached the state quarterfinals.

Lee County sophomore Shantel Bennett made second-team all-conference. The guard led the Lady Yellow Jackets with 12.9 points, 4.4 steals and 3.5 assists a game.

Southern Lee junior center Makenzie Cicogna, who averaged 11.3 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.0 blocks a game, and Union Pines senior guard Lexie Coxe, who averaged 6.1 points, 2.0 steals and 2.0 assists per game, also made the second team. Lady Cavalier point guard Jasmine McIver, a junior, made honorable mention having contributed 7.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.6 steals and 3.3 assists a game.

On the boys' team, Cavalier sophomore Noah Mellette made the top all-conference team for the second straight season. Mellette, a guard, and 6-foot-4 senior forward Kevin McLeod, who made the second team, led the Cavs to a 15-11 record and the second round of the state tournament.

Lee County senior forward/center Dewaun McEachin earned a first team spot as he averaged 19.1 points and 6.4 rebounds a game. The Yellow Jackets, in their first season through the Cape Fear Valley, went 19-7 overall. Two more senior Jackets, Hunter Jackson on the second team and Trevon Watson as honorable mention, were selected.
