Former Jacket keeper taking on UNC today

Former Lee County High School and Sanford Area Soccer League standout Olivia Sturdivant and Kennesaw State's women's soccer squad will take on No. 1 and defending national champion North Carolina (3-0) at 3 p.m. today in the Carolina Nike Classic at UNC-Chapel Hill's Fetzer Field.

Sturdivant, as a true freshman for the Lady Owls, is the starting goalkeeper. She's played all 270 minutes through the first three Lady Owl matches this season.

Kennesaw St. fell 1-0 to No. 12 Duke on the first day of the Carolina Nike Classic on Friday. Duke scored the lone goal in the 59th minute. Sturdivant made seven saves.

Last weekend in Knoxville, Tenn. at a tournament at the University of Tennessee, the Owls defeated Tennessee Tech 1-0 and lost 2-0 to Oklahoma. In her college debut, Sturdivant got the shutout with one save versus Tennessee Tech.

North Carolina beat New Mexico 2-1 in the first round on Friday. Duke plays New Mexico at 1 p.m. today at Fetzer Field.
