Yellow Jackets win, clinch spot in playoffs
Lee County clinched a playoff berth with a 39-2 victory over Westover Friday night. Due to the inclement weather, the game was called at the end of the third quarter which was shortened to 10 minutes with a continuous clock.
Lee County (8-2, 4-1) scored on five of its seven first-half possessions, with Jerry Pullum scoring all five of the Jackets’ touchdowns. Pullum, who did not play in the second half, finished the game with 246 yards on 17 carries.
Pullum scored on Lee County’s first play from scrimmage on a 33-yard run. He later scored on touchdown runs of 5, 9, 58 and 58 yards.
Westover (0-10, 0-5) got on the scoreboard late in the second period on a safety.
The Yellow Jackets scored on their only possession of the second half on a 1-yard run by Bubba Wilson, who finished the game with 11 carries for 55 yards.
Lee County finished the game with 12 first downs and 321 total yards. The Wolverines were held to three first downs and 36 total yards.
Next Friday, the Yellow Jackets host rival Southern Lee in the regular season finale and Brick City Bowl VIII.
