Pullum gets N.C. Player of the Week award
Lee County running back Jerry Pullum earned a statewide honor for his 321-yard performance in the Yellow Jacket win at Terry Sanford two Fridays ago last week by NCPreps.com.
NCPreps.com selected Pullum as its 3A Player of the Week. Pullum rushed 31 times for 321 yards and three touchdowns in Lee County's 41-26 win at Terry Sanford.
The Yellow Jackets (8-2, 4-1) routed Westover 39-2, in a game shortened by a quarter in Fayetteville Friday night. Pullum had 17 carries for 248 yards and five touchdowns, all in the first half. The Jackets led 32-2 at halftime.
Bubba Wilson ran for a touchdown in the third quarter. Dewey Rogers and Patrick Bethea had one interception each for the Jacket defense and the Wolverines gained only four first downs on the night.
On the season, Pullum, a junior, has 1,610 rushing yards with 26 rushing touchdowns, one receiving touchdown and one punt return touchdown.
Lee County will take a three-game winning streak into hosting Brick City Bowl VIII versus Southern Lee at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
