Fuquay-Varina tops Jackets despite homers

Lee County got all of its offense from solo home runs but fell on the road in a Tri-Nine Conference game Friday night.
Chandler Patterson went 3-for-4 with two home runs and Nikki Hoover hit a home run for the Lady Jackets.
Lee County (0-2, 0-2) will host Middle Creek Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Chatham Central 4, East Montgomery 0
The Lady Bears (1-0, 1-0) went on the road and got a Yadkin Valley win to open their season Friday night. Chatham Central will play its home opener Tuesday at 6 p.m. versus Gray Stone Day.
Triton 6, Overhills 0
Sophomore Julie Hodges pitched a two-hitter, striking out nine while walking two, for the Lady Hawks (2-0) at Overhills (0-1) Friday night.
Erica Ocenna led Triton's offense with two runs.
Triton will open Eastern Carolina play hosting C.B. Aycock Tuesday at 6 p.m. Overhills travels to face Pine Forest Monday at 6 p.m.
Cardinal Gibbons 8, Cape Fear Christian 4
Cape Fear Christian (0-1) dropped its season opener playing Cardinal Gibbons at Wake Christian on Friday.

Western Harnett 12, Purnell Swett 10 - 8 innings
Western Harnett (1-1) prevailed in extra innings at Purnell Swett Friday night. The Eagles host Harnett Central on Wednesday at 6 p.m. before opening Cape Fear Valley play against Southern Lee on Friday.
Union Pines 11, Southwestern Randolph 2
The Vikings bounced back in a big way from an opening loss to Pinecrest, winning at home Friday night.
Mason Collins hit a two-run homer for the Vikings (1-1). Union Pines goes to Asheboro Tuesday for a 5 p.m. start.
Northwood 6, Northern Durham 2
Northwood took the lead for good with four runs in the home half of the third for a 4-1 lead and went on to an opening night win Friday night.
Justin King went 3-for-4 with a double and a triple for the Chargers. Northwood (1-0) will visit Southern Lee Tuesday for a 7 p.m. start.
North Moore 5, North Rowan 3
The Mustangs (1-0, 1-0) opened their season with a Yadkin Valley win at North Rowan Friday night. North Moore continues on the road at South Davidson on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Chatham Central 6, East Montgomery 2
The Bears (1-0, 1-0) won on opening night in Bear Creek, getting a YVC win over East Montgomery (1-1, 0-1). Chatham Central travels to play Gray Stone Day Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Triton 8, Overhills 2
Triton posted five runs in the fifth to gain a 7-0 lead and go on to a win at Overhills Friday night.
Dillon Stewart pitched six shutout innings and got the win for the Hawks (2-0). Cole Matthews had two hits and three RBI. Brett McLamb had two hits and two RBI.
Triton will host C.B. Aycock Tuesday at 6 p.m. Overhills (0-1) will play at Pine Forest Monday at 6 p.m.

J.F. Webb 11, Northwood 3
J.F. Webb (1-0) rolled out to an 8-0 lead in the season opener for both squads Friday evening.
Northwood scored all three of its goals in the third quarter. The Chargers (0-1) will host Orange Tuesday at 6 p.m.

The Lady Chargers (0-1) fell in their season opener at Chapel Hill Friday night. Northwood will host Cedar Ridge to open Carolina 12 play Monday at 6:45 p.m.
