Lee County (17-3, 7-2) upset Terry Sanford (17-3, 8-1), 45-41, in boys basketball Friday night at Lee County.

The Yellow Jackets remained undefeated at home and moved into a tie with Westover for second place, one game behind the Bulldogs. Lee County avenged a 58-36 Terry Sanford win in Fayetteville four weeks ago.
The game had a playoff feel as both teams were backed by large, vocal student sections. As time expired, the Lee County students spilled onto the court to celebrate with the team.
Lee County’s Hunter Jackson scored the first five points of the game on a 3-pointer and fast-break layup, giving the Yellow Jackets the largest lead either team would enjoy for the rest of the evening. Jackson was 5-for-7 shooting and made both 3-pointers he attempted on his way to a game-high 16 points.
Jackson also scored six of Lee County’s final 10 points over the final four and a half minutes, as the Yellow Jackets erased a four-point deficit. Lee County didn’t miss a shot in its 18-point fourth-quarter outburst.
The Bulldogs also struggled to contain Lee’s Dewaun McEachin, who scored most of his 16 points on lob passes into the post that led to layups. Keaun Toler was also a force in the paint for Lee County. Toler made all three of his shots for eight points. Toler also recovered on defense to block a back-door layup that would have tied the game in the final minute.
After trailing for most of the game, Terry Sanford tied the game at 27 on a steal and layup by Justin King at the buzzer ending the third quarter. King then opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer, the only trifecta the team made in the game. Freshman Telligence Johnson hit a pair of jumpers, and Isaiah Stallings added a three-point play as Terry Sanford pulled ahead by four with just over four minutes to play.
Stallings led the Bulldogs with 16 points, including 14 after halftime. Johnson added eight points.
Lee County moved to 11-0 at home and extended its winning streak to four games. The 45 points were the fewest the Yellow Jackets have scored in a win this season. The Jackets travel to Union Pines on Monday.
Terry Sanford saw its six-game winning streak come to an end, losing its first conference game of the season. The 41 points were a season low for the Bulldogs, who travel to Westover on Thursday.
