Falcons score 12 in one frame to beat Freedom Christian

The Falcons (1-1) scored all 12 of their runs in the second inning and Noah Thomas pitched a shutout in a victory Thursday afternoon at Lee Christian.
Thomas allowed a walk and got five strikeouts in the win. At the plate, Thomas went 3 for 3 with three RBI.
Leadoff hitter Ju Hyup Jin had two hits and two RBI for the Falcons while Brent Godfrey drove in three RBI, Eli Seawell had two hits and two RBI, Caleb Reynolds knocked in two RBI and Harrison Rogers added two hits and an RBI.
Lee Christian will host Chatham Charter (0-1) at 4:30 p.m. Monday.


Northwood 4, Cedar Ridge 2
The Chargers (2-2, 1-0) got a complete game on the mound by senior Garrett Scott in their first-ever Big Eight Conference game Thursday night at Cedar Ridge (1-3, 0-1).
Scott held the Red Wolves to five hits on the night. Senior third baseman Trevor Hackney went 2 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI for the Chargers.
Northwood hosted South Granville last night and will play at Jordan-Matthews at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.


Northwood 9, Cedar Ridge 1
The Lady Chargers (3-0, 1-0) won their debut game in the Big Eight Conference at Cedar Ridge Thursday. Sophomore Anna Jasper fired a complete game two-hitter with nine strikeouts.
At the plate, the Lady Chargers outhit Cedar Ridge 15-2. Senior Samantha Droese went 4 for 4 with three runs and two RBI. Jasper had a triple and two runs. Ally McKee went 3 for 4 with three RBI. Kayli Blankenship went 3 for 5 and scored three runs.
The Lady Chargers will play at Eastern Randolph at 6 p.m. Monday.


Girls soccer
Triton 8, Midway 0
Triton took a 2-0 lead by halftime before going on to rout visiting MIdway Thursday night. Sophomore Morgan Goff scored five goals giving her 16 goals in six matches this season.
Emily Neville, Dahlia Guin and Jessica Portillo scored one goal apiece. Lexi Vazquez, Gabriela Rosado, Neville, Portillo and Goff had one assist each.
The Lady Hawks (3-2-1) will begin Two Rivers Conference play by hosting Cleveland at 6 p.m. Monday.


Eastern Randolph 3, Jordan-Matthews 2
Eastern Randolph (3-1), following a 5-1 win in Siler City on Feb. 27, claimed a season sweep over the Lady Jets (1-3-1) Thursday.
Jordan-Matthews will travel to face Providence Grove at 6 p.m. Monday.


Pinecrest 9, Purnell Swett 0
After two one-goal victories beginning the season, the Lady Patriots (3-0, 1-0) routed visiting Purnell Swett in their Southeastern Conference opener Thursday night.
Pinecrest played at Hoke County last night and will play at Cardinal Gibbons at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
