Girls basketball

Southern Lee 50, Western Harnett 41

The Lady Cavaliers (7-2, 2-0) defeated Western Harnett for the second time this season, this one Wednesday night in Lillington.

Senior Rachel Wilson led Southern Lee with 15 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Wilson made 5 of 8 field goals and 4 of 5 free throws.

Jordanna Kalkhof scored 14 points including three three-pointers. Makenzie Cicogna had 11 points and six rebounds. Erin Pickens had eight points and five boards.

The Lady Cavaliers have won six straight games and will be in the Yellow Jacket Holiday Basketball Classic at Lee County Dec. 27, 28 and 30.

The Lady Eagles (0-9, 0-1) are hosting Overhills at 6:30 p.m. tonight.


Boys basketball

Southern Lee 63, Western Harnett 54

The Cavaliers (6-3, 2-0) won their sixth straight game and finished a season sweep of the Eagles (1-8, 1-0) Wednesday night.

Southern Lee will travel to play in the Woodmen of the World Christmas Tournament at West Bladen on Dec. 27, 28 and 30. Western Harnett hosts Overhills at 8 p.m. tonight.


Jordan-Matthews 54, West Montgomery 50

The Jets (4-3) edged West Montgomery in Siler City Wednesday night.

Jackson Rogers had a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards. Jaleel Dunn added 14 points for the Jets.

Jordan-Matthews will be in the Courier Tribune Christmas Tournament on Dec. 27, 28 and 30.


O'Neal 54, Grace Christian 43

The Falcons (2-6) avenged a loss earlier this season to Grace Christian (4-6) with a win in Southern Pines Tuesday night.

O'Neal led 14-3 after a quarter and 23-15 at halftime.

Jason Taylor led the Falcons with 19 points. Zach Boggs led the Crusaders with 30 points.

Grace Christian played Friendship Christian last night while O'Neal played Burlington Christian last night.
