What to know if you're going

- Practice rounds generally begin about 6:45 a.m.

- Gates will be open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m.

- Tonight is A Tribute to the Military at the U.S. Open Experience in Tufts Park beginning at 7:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to use complimentary parking in Lot G (Cannon Park) beginning at 6 p.m.

* Parking

The RED Lot is the primary spectator parking lot for those traveling to Pinehurst from the north. Complimentary shuttle bus rides are expected to take less than 15 minutes. There is no spectator or disabled parking in the immediate vicinity of the golf course. All other parking is by permit only.

From U.S. 15/N.C. 501 going south out of Sanford, remain on 15/501 to N.C. 73 West (turn right) and go 3.4 miles on 73. Turn right onto Beulah Hill Church Road and follow signs to the RED Lot.

* First-aid stations

Located at Putter Boy Plaza, adjacent to the practice range, on the 2nd hole and on the 12th hole. Stations will have emergency medical technicians, be cooling stations in the event of extreme heat and have complimentary water.

* Weather

If hazardous weather is approaching, "weather warning" signs will be posted around the course and spectators should take immediate precautions including clearing the grandstands and seeking shelter.

Wednesday's forecasted high is 93 degrees with 59 percent humidity. There is a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms with the highest likelihood in the afternoon.
