Lady Falcons win in four, go to 4-1 in CCC

Volleyball

Lee Christian d. Neuse Christian 20-25, 25-9, 25-19, 25-17

The Lady Falcons (4-2, 4-1) won their third straight match, rebounding from dropping the opening set against visiting Neuse Christian in a Carolina Christian Conference match Friday afternoon in Sanford.

Mak Bowers was the top service point earner for the Lady Falcons with 15 points and two aces. Kelsey Clayton had 12 points and seven aces. Lee Christian totaled 28 service aces, including five each by Sarah Godwin and Cameron Dubuc.

Clayton was the top hitter with 22 hits and 13 kills. Godwin added 12 hits and eight kills. Haley Draughn totaled 52 assists.

Lee Christian will host Community Christian at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Grace Christian 3, Trinity Academy 1

The Lady Crusaders got their first Carolina Christian victory of the season at Trinity Academy Friday. Grace Christian (2-6, 1-3) will host Cape Fear Christian at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Cresset Christian d. Cape Fear Christian 25-23, 26-24, 27-25

The Cresset Lady Eagles (6-7, 4-0) stayed perfect in the Carolina Christian Conference at Cape Fear Christian (3-3, 3-1) Friday afternoon. The CFCA Lady Eagles will play at Grace Christian at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Cross Country

O'Neal home meet

O'Neal hosted its first home meet of the season at Reservoir Park in Southern Pines on Wednesday. The Falcons won the boys' meet and placed fifth in the girls' meet.

Sophomore Josh Russell finished sixth in a time of 21:01 to lead the Falcons. John Grimm (21:44), Andy Smetana (21:48), Jack Hendricks (22:18) and Jesse Ingham (23:09) completed the Falcon team victory.

Senior Aleksandra Majka finished 15th in 27:40 for the Lady Falcons. Julia Huesa (28:18), Destiny Gibson (29:19), Margaux Winter (31:03) and Megan Bloom (32:35) completed the Lady Falcon score.

O'Neal will travel to Cary for the adidas Cross Country on Saturday.

Tennis

O'Neal 9, Chatham Charter 0

O'Neal 9, Harrells Christian 0

The Lady Falcons won at Chatham Charter in Siler City on Wednesday afternoon, then swept a Cape Fear Independent Conference match at Harrells Christian on Thursday.

O'Neal (6-2, 1-1) will host Village Christian on Sept. 24.


JV Football

Western Harnett 26, Lee County 18

The JV Eagles (1-3) won at Lee County (2-1) Thursday night. Western Harnett will host Union Pines at 7 p.m. Thursday. Lee County will play at Overhills at 7 p.m. Thursday.


Union Pines 42, Trinity 0

The JV Vikings (3-0) stayed undefeated with a shutout Thursday night. Union Pines will play at Western Harnett Thursday at 7 p.m.

Northwood 30, Carrboro 16

The JV Chargers (3-0) stayed perfect by beating visiting Carrboro Thursday night.
