Area scores: Cavaliers win on MVP Night

Southern Lee 2, Lee County 0
Southern Lee completed a regular-season sweep over its county rival to close the regular season and celebrate its MVP/Senior Night Wednesday night. The Cavaliers got a goal in each half.
The Cavalier seniors are Tyler Farley, Tyler McCoy, Colin Yoder, Isaias Cruz, Ethan Helsman, Jair Cejudo and Alex Palme.
Lee County prevailed in the JV match on Wednesday, 2-1.
Southern Lee (16-1-2, 10-1-1) is the No. 2 seed entering the Cape Fear Valley Conference Tournament. The Cavaliers will face No. 7 Douglas Byrd in a first-round match Monday at Terry Sanford. The conference-champ Bulldogs will host the whole tournament Monday-Wednesday.
No. 4 Lee County (9-7-1, 6-5-1) will play No. 5 Union Pines on Monday and No. 3 Gray's Creek will play No. 6 Westover.

Pinecrest 7, Hoke County 0
The Patriots (14-1-2, 9-1-0) won the Southeastern Conference season championship with a victory at home Wednesday night; it's the 16th straight conference championship for Pinecrest soccer.
Pinecrest played at Jack Britt last night. The SEC Tournament is scheduled for Monday-Wednesday.

North Moore 5, Queens Grant 1
The Mustangs (10-3-1, 7-2-0) defeated visiting Queens Grant in a Yadkin Valley match Wednesday night. North Moore will play at West Montgomery Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Northwood 3, Orange 2
The Chargers (10-7, 7-5) edged Orange (8-10-1, 4-8-0) by a goal for the second time this season in a Big Eight match Wednesday night. Northwood will play at Northern Vance at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

South Johnston 4, Western Harnett 0
South Johnston (9-5-1, 4-3-0) blanked the Eagles for the second time this season at Western Harnett Wednesday evening. The Eagles (2-13-2, 1-7-0) play their regular-season home finale versus Triton at 6 p.m. Monday.

Smithfield-Selma 7, Triton 0
The Spartans hammered visiting Triton in a Two Rivers match Wednesday. The Hawks (3-14-1, 0-8-0) play at Western Harnett at 6 p.m. Monday.

Jordan-Matthews 5, Cummings 1
The Jets (12-5-1, 6-2-1) rolled to a Mid-State Conference win in Burlington on Wednesday. Jordan-Matthews will host Graham on Monday at 6 p.m. JM and Graham (11-2-2, 6-2-1) are tied for second place in the conference heading into the regular-season finale. The Jets and Red Devils drew 1-1 at Graham in September.

Jack Britt 6, Overhills 2
Jack Britt (14-5, 10-2) beat the Jaguars (6-9-2, 4-7-1) in the regular-season finale for Overhills.

Harnett Central 3, Rolesville 3
The Trojans (6-10-2, 3-7-1) and Rams (0-17-1, 0-11-1) played to a draw in a Greater Neuse River match at Rolesville Wednesday night. The draw is the first point in program history for Rolesville, in its first year as a school.
Harnett Central will host East Wake at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Triton d. Corinth Holders 25-11, 25-23, 25-21
Triton (18-2) swept Corinth Holders (13-6) for the Two Rivers Conference Tournament championship. The Lady Hawk program has won 12 straight conference tournament championships.
Ashley Gaines had 27 assists and six aces for the Lady Hawks.  Barbara Godwin had 12 kills and three blocks and Carrington Royals had 15 digs. The Lady Hawks have a 10-match winning streak headed into the state tournament.
Triton will host Southern Lee (10-7) in the NCHSAA 3A first round on Saturday.

Scotland d. Pinecrest 25-15, 21-25, 25-23, 25-21
Scotland topped the Lady Patriots in the Southeastern Conference Tournament final Wednesday night, going 2-1 versus Pinecrest on the season. The Lady Patriots, a No. 2 seed in the state tourney, will host No. 3 New Hanover in the first round of the NCHSAA 4A State Tournament on Saturday.
