Area scores: Chargers, Mustangs win heading into state tourneys

Northwood secured at least a tie for third place in its first season in the 3A Big Eight with a win at home Wednesday night. The Chargers built up a 3-0 halftime lead with a goal each by Jonathan Perez, Angel Rosas and Jordan Tingen.
Northwood (11-7-1, 8-5-1) has clinched a berth into the NCHSAA 3A State Tournament.

North Moore 7, South Davidson 0
The Mustangs (12-3-1, 9-2-0) won a share of the Yadkin Valley Conference East Division championship versus visiting South Davidson Wednesday and will take a four-match winning streak into the NCHSAA 1A State Tournament. The first round in all four NCHSAA tournaments is set for Wednesday.

Corinth Holders 2, Triton 1
Corinth Holders (15-4-1, 8-2-0) fended off the host Hawks (4-15-1, 1-9-0) as Triton completed its season in Erwin Wednesday night. Bailey Tart scored the Hawk goal and the match was tied 1-1 at halftime. Corinth Holders finishes second in the Two Rivers Conference.

Cleveland 10, Western Harnett 1
Cleveland (8-10-2, 6-3-1) routed the visiting Eagles (2-15-2, 1-9-0) in the regular-season finale for both squads on Wednesday.

Harnett Central 1, West Johnston 1
Harnett Central (8-10-3, 5-7-2) tied at West Johnston in the regular-season finale for both at West Johnston.
