No. 12 Wake Forest (9-3) at No. 4 Pinecrest (11-1) - 7:30 p.m.

The Patriots host a second-round state playoff game and will be trying to keep their best season in program history going tonight. Pinecrest's 11 wins is the school's most ever.

It took the Patriot defense winning a defensive battle versus visiting Laney to advance last Friday night.

Quarterback Christian Ledbetter's touchdown run gave the Patriots a 13-7 lead with 10 minutes left. A long Laney drive ended when the Patriots held Laney on downs at the Pinecrest 9.

It was a different way for the Patriots to get the job done. Pinecrest's offense has scored 35 or more points in nine games, all nine being wins, this season.

Wake Forest lost three of its last five regular season games before upsetting No. 5 Panther Creek 35-14 in the first round.

The Cougars average 307 rushing yards a game and are led by junior Bryce Love's 1,787 rushing yards, 23 rushing touchdowns and 28 total touchdowns.

The Cougar vs. Patriot winner will meet the winner of No. 9 Millbrook at No. 1 Wakefield in the state quarterfinals.
