South Stanly tops Bears in YVC baseball

South Stanly 8, Chatham Central 0

The Rowdy Rebel Bulls (17-1, 11-0) scored three runs in the home half of the first inning and went on to stay perfect in the Yadkin Valley over Chatham Central (9-5, 7-2) Thursday night. South Stanly held the Bears to two hits.

South Stanly leads the conference by three games over the Bears and West Montgomery. The Bears will host North Rowan Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Vandalia Christian 7, Grace Christian 0

Vandalia Christian blanked the host Crusaders (7-5, 2-1) in a non-conference game Thursday afternoon. Grace Christian and Northwood Temple postponed their Friday game to Monday at 5 p.m. at Northwood Temple.

Pinecrest 4, Lumberton 1

The Patriots (11-6, 3-3) got their second 4-1 win over the Pirates (6-11, 2-4) of the season Thursday night in Lumberton. Pinecrest will play another SEC game Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Scotland.

Triton 8, North Lenoir 2

Triton (12-5, 5-3) finished a season sweep of North Lenoir (4-11, 2-7) in an Eastern Carolina game Thursday night. Triton will visit Cape Fear Christian Monday for a 6 p.m. start.

Village Christian 13, O'Neal 1

Village Christian (8-0, 3-0) rolled to a Cape Fear Independent win over the visiting Falcons (0-8, 0-3) Thursday. O'Neal will host Fayetteville Christian Tuesday at 4 p.m.


Triton 9, North Lenoir 6 - 9 innings

Triton (11-3, 7-1) scored two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game, 5-5, then scored four runs in the top of the ninth to go ahead 9-5.

Emma Thomas and Erica Ocenna hit a homer each for Triton. Thomas had four RBI. Kaitlin Ennis went 2-for-4 and scored two runs. Kayla Baker pitched 5.2 innings and got the win.

Triton hosts Midway Monday at 6 p.m.

Lumberton 10, Pinecrest 4

The Lady Patriots held a 2-1 lead in the fourth before Lumberton (10-7, 4-2) took the lead and got a Southeastern win Thursday night. Pinecrest (3-7, 2-4) will play at Scotland Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Girls soccer

Vandalia Christian 3, Grace Christian 0

Visiting Vandalia Christian handed the Lady Crusaders (6-5-2, 2-1-0) their first shutout of the season Thursday afternoon in a non-conference match.

Grace Christian played at Northwood Temple yesterday and is slated to play at Wayne Christian Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Jordan-Matthews 2, Bartlett Yancey 2

Bartlett Yancey (6-7-1, 5-1-1) and the Lady Jets (5-4-1, 3-2-1) drew a Mid-State match Thursday night. Jordan-Matthews will host Providence Grove for a conference match Monday at 6 p.m.

East Montgomery 5, Chatham Central 1

Chatham Central (2-8-1, 2-7-1) fell in a Yadkin Valley match on the road Thursday night. The Lady Bears will play at South Stanly Monday at 6:30 p.m.

South Stanly 5, North Moore 3

The Lady Mustangs (2-6-1) made it seven goals in two nights, but couldn't make it back-to-back YVC wins, at South Stanly (4-5-2) Thursday night. North Moore will play at West Montgomery Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Pine Forest 3, Western Harnett 0

The Lady Trojans (8-4-2, 4-3-2) beat visiting Western Harnett in a non-conference match Thursday night. The Lady Eagles will host Gray's Creek for a Cape Fear Valley match Monday at 6 p.m.

Village Christian 3, O'Neal 1

Village Christian (5-3-1, 2-1-0) won a Cape Fear Independent match over the Lady Falcons (1-4-1, 0-2-0) Thursday. O'Neal will play at Fayetteville Christian Tuesday at 4:45 p.m.

Harnett Central 2, Triton 1

The Lady Trojans (7-2, 4-2) overturned a 1-0 halftime deficit to win a county rivalry match Thursday night.

Triton (5-7, 3-4) played at North Lenoir last night and will host Midway Monday at 6 p.m. Harnett Central will host Clayton Monday at 6:30 p.m.
