Western Harnett 7, Lee County 3

Western Harnett (10-4, 7-2 CFVC) broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the sixth, then scored three more runs in the seventh, to win a non-conference game at Lee County (3-11, 2-8 Tri-Nine) Wednesday evening.

Caroline Wilson, Allie Eyers and Morgan Pedley drove in a run each for the Lady Jackets, who had tied the game, 3-3, with a run in the home half of the fifth.

Western Harnett hosts Douglas Byrd in a conference game tonight at 7 p.m.

Lee County faced Cary last night and will host Southern Lee Saturday at 1 p.m. in the annual Priscilla Edwards Scholarship Endowment game played between the Jackets and Cavalier softball squads.

North Moore 5, South Davidson 2

The Lady Mustangs (10-8, 8-4) got a Yadkin Valley Conference win at South Davidson (5-12, 3-9) Wednesday night. North Moore hosts East Montgomery in a YVC game this evening at 6 p.m.

Garner 12, Harnett Central 1

Garner routed Harnett Central (6-6, 3-4) in Angier Wednesday night. Harnett Central hosts Clayton in another Greater Neuse River game tonight at 7 p.m.

Cape Fear 12, Overhills 2

Cape Fear beat the visiting Lady Jaguars in a non-conference game Wednesday night. Overhills (4-11, 4-4) will play at Gray's Creek Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Pinecrest 4, Pine Forest 1

The Lady Patriots (5-7, 3-4) made it two wins in two nights winning at Pine Forest Wednesday night. Pinecrest hosts Purnell Swett tonight at 7 p.m.

Baseball

Eastern Randolph 11, Chatham Central 6

The Bears had the lead with six outs to get before Eastern Randolph (9-7) scored eight runs in the home half of the sixth to take an 11-4 lead in a non-league game Wednesday.

Seth Elkins went 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI for the Bears. Andrew Jurden went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

The Bears (9-7) play a YVC game at South Davidson tonight at 7 p.m.


Pinecrest 17, Pine Forest 1

Pinecrest (12-7) rolled to a non-conference win in five innings at Pine Forest Wednesday night. The Patriots host Purnell Swett for a Southeastern game tonight at 7 p.m.


Cape Fear 7, Overhills 1

The Colts (14-4) beat the visiting Jaguars (4-12, 3-5) in a non-conference game Wednesday night. Overhills will travel to play Gray's Creek Tuesday at 7 p.m.


Triton 3, Jack Britt 2

The Hawks (14-5) rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the last two innings, with Dillon Stewart's two-RBI single giving the Hawks a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh Wednesday night against Jack Britt (8-7).

In addition to the key hit, Stewart pitched a complete game. Matthew Webb had an RBI.

Triton plays an Eastern Carolina game at Cleveland this evening at 6 p.m.


Garner 4, Harnett Central 1

Garner (15-2, 8-0) remained atop the Greater Neuse River with a win in Angier Wednesday night. Harnett Central (11-5, 5-3) hosts Clayton tonight at 7 p.m.


Girls soccer

Cary 3, Lee County 1

The Lady Yellow Jackets fell in a Tri-Nine match at Cary (8-4-1, 7-4-1) Wednesday evening. Lee County (0-12, 0-11) played at Apex last night and travels to Jack Britt tonight for a 6:30 p.m. start.

Union Pines 3, Gray's Creek 0

The Lady Vikings (11-1-2, 7-0-1) got a key Cape Fear Valley victory at Gray's Creek (7-4-2, 6-2-0) Wednesday night and completed a regular season sweep of the Lady Bears. Union Pines hosts Richmond tonight at 7 p.m.

Jordan-Matthews 3, Bartlett Yancey 0

After a 2-2 draw at Bartlett Yancey (7-5-1, 6-2-1) last week, the Lady Jets (7-4-1, 5-2-1) shut out the Lady Buccaneers in Siler City Wednesday evening.

Beatriz Aguirre's goal in the 35th minute and Karina Aguila's penalty kick goal made it 2-0 Lady Jets at halftime. Cristina Cetino scored a goal in the second half.

Jordan-Matthews played Chatham Central last night and is slated to play at Eastern Randolph Monday at 6 p.m.

East Wake 1, Harnett Central 0

East Wake (4-9-1, 2-8-0) edged the visiting Lady Trojans (7-4, 4-4) in a Greater Neuse River match Wednesday night. Harnett Central will host Smithfield-Selma Monday at 6 p.m.
