Durham hosting all-star events; game on Wed. night

Durham and Durham Bulls Athletic Park will host the Triple-A All-Star Game and a full lineup of events beginning today leading up to the all-star game set for Wednesday night.

The 2014 Cree Triple-A All-Star Game, with the International League all-stars facing the Pacific Coast League all-stars, is set for 7:07 p.m. Wednesday at the home of the Durham Bulls. Players from every triple-A team are on the two rosters. The Triple-A Home Run Derby will be held at 6:35 p.m. Monday at DBAP. Tuesday afternoon will be All-Star Workout Day from 2-5 p.m. at the park with the All-Star Autograph Session from 2:45-4 p.m.

The festivities begin today in and around DBAP with the All-Star Fan Fest in the Park from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. followed by the All-Star Block Party from 6-10 p.m. on Blackwell St. in Durham. Admission is free to the Fan Fest and Block Party, as well as Tuesday's sessions in the Park.

"We expect more than 30,000 fans to attend the festivities over the five-day period," said Shelly Green, president and CEO of the Durham Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"They are sure to have a great time as the Durham Bulls certainly know how to pull off spectacular events," Green said.
