Crusaders get sweep on the road
Grace Christian 56, Cape Fear Christian 40
The Lady Crusaders improved to 9-0 in the Carolina Christian Conference behind 29 points by junior Anna Murr at Cape Fear Christian Tuesday night.
Brooke Strickland scored 14 points and Alexis Ross added eight points for Grace. The Lady Crusaders held a 32-21 halftime lead.
Grace Christian (19-3, 9-0) will host Cresset Christian, the only other unbeaten school in the CCC at 7-0, on Friday at 6 p.m.
Lee Christian 40, Northwood Temple 13
After a 32-29 win over Northwood Temple early in the season, the Lady Falcons cruised to a season sweep Tuesday evening in Sanford. The Lady Falcons jumped out to an 8-0 lead and led 21-9 at halftime.
Freshman Haley Draughn led Lee Christian with 14 points. Makaila Gillum had eight points, nine rebounds and nine steals. Whitney O'Quinn had eight points, five steals and four assists. Peyton Sprouse had six points and six boards. Lauren Lane had four points and five assists.
Lee Christian (7-9, 3-5) will host New Life Storm, a home-school team, today at 4:30 p.m.
Fayetteville Christian 60, O'Neal 25
Fayetteville Christian (18-1, 6-0) rolled to a Cape Fear Independent Conference win at O'Neal Tuesday night.
O'Neal (2-13, 1-3) will travel to Wilmington to take on Cape Fear Academy Friday at 6 p.m.
Overhills 61, Douglas Byrd 32
Overhills (10-5, 6-0) jumped out to a 20-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and kept going to a Cape Fear Valley win at Douglas Byrd Tuesday night.
Senior guard Katelyn Clark led the Lady Jaguars with 18 points, including making 4-of-6 three-pointers. Ge'Naisha Robinson had 13 points, eight rebounds, six steals and four assists for the Jags. Jaylen Smalls had 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Janna Aultman added six points and 11 rebounds.
Overhills will host Westover Friday at 6 p.m.
Westover 52, Union Pines 49
Westover (10-6, 3-2) rallied from a 39-28 Lady Viking lead through three quarters to win at Union Pines.
Freshman guard Maresa Smith had 14 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Lady Vikings and freshman center Stephanie Johnson had 11 points and six boards.
Airico Williams scored 17 points and Kylah Saylon had 16 points for Westover.
The Lady Vikings (7-10, 3-3) will host Douglas Byrd Friday at 6 p.m.
Chatham Central 59, East Montgomery 31
Chatham Central turned a slim lead into a rout in the second half for a Yadkin Valley win at East Montgomery Tuesday night. The Lady Bears (6-8, 5-3) led 23-18 at the half before going on to a big lead and a season sweep over the Lady Eagles (2-11, 2-7).
Ashley Hudson led the Lady Bears with 17 points and Jordan Culberson scored 13 points.
Chatham Central hosts North Moore tonight at 6 p.m.
Jordan-Matthews 62, Providence Grove 52
The Lady Jets (15-1, 4-1) rebounded from their first loss of the season with a Mid-State win on the road Tuesday night.
Center Erin Bristow led the Lady Jets with 19 points, getting 13 in the first half. Mylia Garner scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half.
Jordan-Matthews will travel to play Bartlett Yancey Friday at 6 p.m.
Northwood 44, Franklin Academy 38
Northwood (12-3, 8-0) prevailed on the road, edging ahead from a 30-30 tie going to the fourth quarter, at Franklin Academy (8-5, 4-4) in Wake Forest Tuesday night.
Alexis Brower led Northwood with 14 points. Jasmine Harris and Shontai Totten added 10 points apiece.
The Lady Chargers have another Carolina 12 road game Friday at Cedar Ridge at 6 p.m.
Triton 42, Southern Wayne 38
Triton (7-10, 3-3) held on to a 34-24 lead through three quarters and got an Eastern Carolina win over the visiting Lady Saints.
Octavia Hart led Triton with 11 points and four steals. Mallary Caroway scored 10 points. Adaisha Harris and Jamecia McNair grabbed 13 rebounds each.
The Lady Hawks will go to North Lenoir Friday for a 6:30 p.m. start.
North Rowan 85, North Moore 81 - OT
North Rowan won overtime 7-3 to get a season sweep over the Lady Mustangs Tuesday night in Robbins. The Lady Cavaliers edged North Moore 65-63 in December.
Freshman Special Washington led North Moore (7-6, 7-2) with 25 points.
North Moore (10-6, 5-4) will play at Chatham Central tonight at 6 p.m.
Grace Christian 84, Cape Fear Christian 73
Senior guard Mark Riches led the Crusaders with 25 points as they won a CCC game on the road Tuesday night.
Zach Boggs scored 22 points while Isaac Kruger and B.J. Harrison had 12 points each for the Crusaders.
Goran Cetrovic led Cape Fear Christian (10-7, 3-5) with 27 points and Martynas Marcerovic had 13 points. CFCA led 40-39 at halftime.
Grace Christian (15-7, 6-3) will host Cresset Christian for a CCC game Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Northwood Temple 73, Lee Christian 35
Northwood Temple (18-8, 9-0) rolled to a CCC win at Lee Christian Tuesday night.
Maucoum ba Kane scored 16 points for the victors and Sidy Djitte, a 6-foot-10 senior, added 13 points.
Senior forward Kevin Kemp led the Falcons with 10 points. Kane Kaufman added five points.
Lee Christian (2-14, 1-7) will host the Raleigh Hawks tonight at 7:30 p.m.
O'Neal 55, Fayetteville Christian 54
Jacob Talbert poured in 27 points and became O'Neal's all-time leading scorer as the Falcons edged Fayetteville Christian for a CFIC win in Southern Pines Tuesday night.
Talbert made 5-of-6 free throws late in the game to keep the Falcons in front. He also totaled 10 rebounds. Theo Johnson scored nine points and Jack Johnston and John Roger Moore scored six points apiece.
Burak Eslik scored 21 points for the Warriors.
O'Neal (8-8, 3-1) will travel to face Cape Fear Academy Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Overhills 74, Douglas Byrd 64 - OT
Overhills guard Jared Foster made a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime and the Jaguars (9-6, 4-2) won in the extra period at Douglas Byrd (6-11, 3-3).
Senior forward Robert Johnson led Overhills with 16 points. Ali Thomas had 10 points and Foster had nine points.
Overhills will host Westover Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Westover 96, Union Pines 51
The Wolverines (13-3, 5-0) remain in first place in the CFVC with an easy win in Cameron Tuesday night.
Westover led 61-34 at halftime. Titus Gary led the Wolverines with 22 points and Khyrice Saylon had 20 points.
Matthew Maness led the Vikings with 14 points and Michael Quick had 10 points.
The Vikings (4-14, 0-6) will host Douglas Byrd Friday at 7:30 p.m.
East Montgomery 67, Chatham Central 63
After an overtime win by the Eagles in December, East Montgomery (7-8, 4-4) edged the visiting Bears (3-10, 2-6) again Tuesday night.
Zack Burke led Chatham Central with 24 points and 11 rebounds. LaQuinn Mordecai scored 18 points. The Bears led 22-21 at halftime.
North Moore plays at Chatham Central tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Jordan-Matthews 62, Providence Grove 35
Jordan-Matthews (14-2, 3-2) stopped a two-game losing skid with a Mid-State win at Providence Grove Tuesday night.
Derek Hamilton led the Jets with 16 points and Maurice Eaddy had 13 points.
The Jets will travel to face Bartlett Yancey Friday at 7:30 p.m.
North Rowan 56, North Moore 30
The Cavaliers (13-3, 9-0) cruised to a YVC win at North Moore Tuesday night. The Mustangs (8-8, 5-4) play at Chatham Central tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Northwood 67, Franklin Academy 50
The Chargers trailed by a point at halftime before winning the third period 18-4, for a 43-30 lead, and going on to a Carolina 12 win in Wake Forest Tuesday night.
Ti Pinnix led the Chargers with 25 points and Aumad Walker added 15 points.
Marcus McLean led Franklin Academy with 24 points.
Northwood (9-6, 6-2) travels for another conference game Friday at Cedar Ridge at 7:30 p.m.
Triton 69, Southern Wayne 63
Five Hawks scored in double digits as Triton (14-3, 5-1) held off the visiting Saints (9-6, 3-3) in an ECC contest Tuesday night.
Senior guard Maurice McBryde scored 18 points, making 8-of-12 field goals, and had five rebounds for the Hawks.
Dedrick Stacker had 17 points. Ronald Elliott had a double-double of 11 points and 18 boards. Krishawn McBryde had 11 points and Alex Burnett had 10 points.
Triton travels to play North Lenoir Friday night at 8 p.m.
