Lee County had 16 athletes earn their way to the Hershey's Track and Field State Finals meet which is being held this evening, starting at 5 p.m., at Meredith College in Raleigh.

The sprinters, jumpers and throwers finished high in the local competition at Southern Lee High School two weekends ago, then finished first or second in their events at the district meet at Cary's Mills Park Middle School last Friday.

Hershey's combines with Lee County Parks and Recreation to have track and field practices, then meets, each spring and summer. This is the third year of the program in Lee County.
