Pride tops SanLee, takes record to 4-0

West Lee Middle School's boys' basketball team got its second straight victory over a cross-town rival Monday, beating SanLee Middle School 46-23.

The win takes the Pride's record to 4-0 and the Pride is alone in first place in the Lee/Harnett Athletic Conference.

After the Stallions took the lead in the opening minutes, the Pride went on a 9-0 run. Demarcus Taylor hit a three-pointer from the top of the key as the first quarter horn sounded giving West Lee a 14-4 lead.

The Pride defense forced numerous turnovers in the second period, keeping West Lee's lead safe. The Pride led 20-11 at halftime. West Lee finished the third quarter with a 6-0 run to hold a 33-17 lead going to the fourth period.

Taylor led the Pride with 17 points. Harrington led the Stallions with nine points.

Nick Grubb and Erik Hodge grabbed 12 rebounds each for the Pride. Dexter Moore added nine points.

West Lee hits the road this afternoon meeting the Dunn Green Wave at 5 p.m. SanLee travels to play Coats/Erwin today at 5 p.m.
