Crusaders get two tight wins

Grace Christian's middle school basketball squads pulled out nailbiting victories over visiting St. Timothy's Thursday night. The Lady Crusaders won 26-25 followed by a 28-25 Grace Christian win in the boys' game.

Hannah Brown led the way for the Lady Crusaders with 12 points and Madison Bolen scored 10 points.

Grace Christian led by eight points at halftime before St. Timothy's rallied to tie the game, 20-20, going to the fourth quarter. Bolen hit key free throws late in the fourth quarter to give the Crusaders the win.

In the boys' game, the Crusaders played their best game of the season for their first victory. Dean Carver led Grace with 13 points and Jonathan Husk added seven points.

St. Timothy's led 18-7 at halftime. Team defense and turnovers leading to key baskets led the Crusader comeback.

Grace won the third quarter 11-0 for an 18-18 score going to the final period. Carver hit two three-pointers in the fourth to give the Crusaders the lead. More defense along with clutch free throws gave the Crusaders the win.

Both Crusader teams travel to play Cresset Christian Monday afternoon starting at 4 p.m.
