Girls basketball

Chatham Central 36, Gray Stone Day 27

The Lady Bears (9-10, 8-5) completed a season sweep over Gray Stone Day (5-16, 2-12) to finish their regular-season home schedule Wednesday night. Chatham Central led 20-15 at halftime.

Chatham Central has three road games to finish the regular season, starting tonight at South Davidson at 6 p.m.

South Davidson 71, North Moore 53

North Moore (11-9, 6-7) gave visiting South Davidson (17-2, 13-0) a good game for a half in a Yadkin Valley game Wednesday night.

South Davidson led 36-34 at halftime before pulling away. Holly Wall led South Davidson with 20 points.

The Lady Mustangs play at East Montgomery tonight at 6 p.m.


Boys basketball

Chatham Central 67, Gray Stone Day 48

The Bears (5-13, 4-9) finished their home schedule with a victory over the Knights (0-20, 0-14) Wednesday night.

Senior LaQuinn Mordecai scored 21 points, including making three three-pointers, and senior Jared Jones scored 10 points for the Bears. Zack Burke totaled 15 points, 16 rebounds, six assists, five steals and five blocked shots. The Bears led 34-22 at the half.

Chatham Central travels to play South Davidson tonight at 7:30 p.m.

North Moore 88, South Davidson 40

The Mustangs (11-9, 8-5) raced out to a 25-9 lead through one quarter and kept going to a 49-19 gap by halftime over visiting South Davidson (2-16, 2-10) Wednesday night.

North Moore plays at East Montgomery tonight at 7:30 p.m.
