Campbell welcomes Flames tonight
Campbell returns home to Gore Arena for four of its next five games seeking a return to its winning ways, beginning with a 7 p.m. start Wednesday vs. Liberty. The Camels (10-15, 5-6) opened Big South Conference play with five victories in their first six games but have stumbled to five straight losses since.
On Saturday, the Camels ran into hot-shooting Charleston Southern, which knocked down 11 threes in an 86-68 decision at CSU Field House.
Marvelle Harris came off the bench to lead Campbell with 14 points and eight rebounds. Trey Freeman added 13 points.
Campbell and Radford are 1.5 games behind VMI (11-11, 6-4) for second place in the North Division standings with five games to play. The top two seeds in each division earn a first-round bye in the VisitMyrtleBeach.com Big South Championship, Mar. 5-10 at Conway, S.C.
CU’s home stretch continues Saturday with a 2 p.m. tip-off against VMI.
On Jan. 29 at Lynchburg, Va., Liberty (8-17, 4-7) shot 67 percent from the field in the second half, hitting 6-of-8 threes in the process, and defeated Campbell 89-72. Tavares Speaks scored a career-high 22 points, Davon Marshall had 22 and John Caleb Sanders had 21 for the Flames. Freeman led Campbell with 17 points. Marvelle Harris and Darian Hooker added 15 each and Leek Leek had 14 for CU.
Last season, Campbell won at Gore Arena and Liberty won at the Vines Center. Campbell is 8-2 all-time against the Flames at Buies Creek.
