Vikings storm East Montgomery for 41-6 victory

Senior quarterback Max Yates led the Viking offense going 10 for 16 for 247 yards and three touchdowns passing as the Vikings (1-0) got their first win in a season opener since 2010 and avenged a 27-22 East Montgomery win from a year ago Friday night in Biscoe.
Union Pines led 27-6 at halftime.
Sophomore running back Kalon Green had nine carries for 86 yards and a touchdown and Robert Collins also had a touchdown run for the Vikings.
Tyler McRae had four receptions for 105 yards and two touchdowns. Demarius Hampton and Armani McCoy caught a touchdown each.
Junior safety/outside linebacker Brian Arredondo had two interceptions.
Union Pines will play its home opener versus county rival North Moore (1-0) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
North Moore 22, Trinity 12
The Mustangs (1-0), at home in Robbins to begin the season, got their first opening-week win since the 2007 season. Trinity topped the Mustangs 47-14 last August.
Junior quarterback Malik McCrimmon rushed for two touchdowns in the first half and North Moore led 16-6 at halftime. Tyreek Riddick-Reynolds carried for a touchdown in the second half for the Mustangs. The Mustang defense got two interceptions on the night.
North Moore will play at Union Pines Friday night.
Pinecrest 23, Overhills 12
Overhills led 12-0 in the second quarter and 12-7 at halftime before the Patriots rallied to win in Southern Pines Friday night.
Junior quarterback Christian Ledbetter went 8 for 11 passing with 106 yards and two touchdowns for the Patriots. His 44-yard touchdown run put Pinecrest ahead 14-12 early in the second half. He finished with 116 rushing yards. Troy Roper added 63 rushing yards.
Joshua McGowan's 18-yard touchdown run and Quincy Ridley's 3-yard touchdown run took the Jaguars to their early lead.
Pinecrest (1-0) will host Douglas Byrd Friday night. Overhills (0-1) will host Triton (0-1) Friday.
Cape Fear 39, Triton 7
Triton led 7-6 at halftime before the host Colts ran away in Fayetteville Friday night.
Following a Cape Fear touchdown to open the scoring, D'Angelo Harris scored on a 69-yard run for the Hawks.
Triton (0-1) will visit county rival Overhills Friday night.
Apex 46, Harnett Central 10
Apex routed the Trojans (0-1) for the second straight season opener in Apex Friday night. The Cougars scored the last 25 points of the game.
Kahlil Dixon's 79-yard touchdown run drew Harnett Central within a 21-10 deficit late in the second quarter. Dixon finished with 14 carries for 151 yards.
Trojan quarterback Jay McNeil threw for 146 yards with Kasual Cantey making eight catches for 80 yards.
Harnett Central will play at Western Harnett (0-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Northwood 65, East Chapel Hill 0
Senior running back Kadarus Rone scored four touchdowns and the Chargers (1-0) romped in their opener at East Chapel Hill Friday night.
Rone's 3-yard touchdown run finished the first Charger possession of the game. He went on to have 10 carries for 94 yards and four TDs. Montel Goods had five rushes for 106 yards and two touchdowns. Tyrell Baldwin, Brodie Beasley and Jacob Fowler had a rushing touchdown each and B.J. Harrington had a 50-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Northwood led 44-0 at halftime.
Southern Lee (1-0) will host the Chargers at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Providence Grove 28, Jordan-Matthews 27
Providence Grove running back Malik Farris scored on a 5-yard touchdown run and the Patriots made the extra point with 0:21 remaining in the game to defeat the Jets (0-1) in Climax Friday night.
Jordan-Matthews led 13-7 at halftime, then 27-14 in the fourth quarter after Tre Jones went for a 57-yard touchdown run. Providence Grove scored two touchdowns in the last six minutes.
Cyrus Scotton and Jackson Rogers caught touchdown passes from Rahman Mateen in the first half. A touchdown run by Kareem Brooks and a two-point conversion put the Jets ahead 21-7 in the third quarter.
The Jets will host rival Chatham Central (0-1) Friday night.
Wake Christian 28, Chatham Central 14
Wake Christian jumped out to a 21-0 lead by halftime and defeated the Bears (0-1) for the second straight season opener in Raleigh Friday night.
Chatham Central continues on the road this Friday going to Jordan-Matthews for a 7:30 p.m. kick.
