North Moore sweeps O’Neal on hardwood

Boys basketball

North Moore 63, O'Neal 50

The visiting Mustangs rallied, after O'Neal led 12-6 after one quarter, for a win at Southern Pines Thursday night.

North Moore (4-4, 2-1) came back to gain a 26-21 halftime lead. Quashan Davis led the Mustangs with 17 points.

Jacob Talbert led the Falcons (3-6) with 25 points.

O'Neal will host Carolina Friends on Tuesday at 7 p.m. North Moore had a Yadkin Valley game against Albemarle last night and will host West Montgomery Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Smithfield-Selma 50, Triton 47

Smithfield-Selma (6-1) edged the visiting Hawks in a non-conference game Thursday night.

Krishawn McBryde and Alex Burnett led Triton with nine points each. Isiah McNeill had six assists.

Triton (7-2, 1-0) has an Eastern Carolina game at South Johnston Tuesday at 8 p.m.

Girls basketball

North Moore 65, O'Neal 13

The Lady Mustangs (5-3, 1-2) rolled to an easy win at O'Neal Thursday evening.

Andrea Brower led North Moore with 12 points. The Lady Mustangs had a conference game versus Albemarle last night and will host West Montgomery Tuesday at 6 p.m.

O'Neal (0-9) will host Carolina Friends Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.


Smithfield-Selma 55, Triton 34

The Lady Spartans built up a 30-9 halftime lead and rolled past Triton Thursday night.

Mallary Caroway led Triton with 12 points and Ja'nae Harvey added eight points. The Lady Hawks (3-6, 0-1) will play at South Johnston Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

East Montgomery 42, North Moore 35

The Mustangs split duals at East Montgomery Thursday night. The Mustangs (2-8) have a tri-meet at Providence Grove Wednesday at 6 p.m.
