Crusaders get sweep at Wayne Christian

Grace Christian 75, Wayne Christian 64

The Crusaders, still with three starters out due to injuries, got a Carolina Christian Conference win on the road Friday night.

Zach Boggs led Grace with 24 points. Isaac Kruger scored 22 points and Robert Fulton had 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

“Playing without your leading scorers and rebounders is tough,” said Grace Christian head coach Tim Murr. “I thought our team did a great job on the road. Hopefully we will get everyone back soon after the first of the year.”

The Crusaders (9-5, 3-1) host Faith Christian Tuesday night at 7:30.


Carrboro 75, Northwood 70

Carrboro (3-1, 2-0) beat the visiting Chargers in a Carolina 12 game Friday night.

Charles Hope led Northwood with 23 points while Aumad Walker had 16 points and Ti Pinnix had 15.

Northwood (3-4, 2-1) is off until playing in the Lee County Basketball Shootout Dec. 27-29.


Overhills 92, Union Pines 60

The Jaguars romped out to a 29-9 lead through a quarter and a 54-28 margin by halftime over visiting Union Pines Friday night.

Senior Josh Mason led the Jags with 21 points. Theron Cole had 17 points while Robert Johnson had 16 and Jeremiah Jenkins had 14. Luke Davis led the Vikings with 10 points.

Overhills (4-4, 1-1) will play at Western Harnett Tuesday night. Union Pines (3-5, 0-2) played Richmond last night and will host Gray’s Creek in a Cape Fear Valley game Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.


Southeast Raleigh 54, Harnett Central 35

Southeast Raleigh rolled to a Greater Neuse River Conference win at Harnett Central (4-5, 0-1).

William Walker scored 15 points to lead Southeast Raleigh. Hunter Baker scored 13 points for the Trojans and Anthony Staton added seven points.

The Trojans will play at Clayton Tuesday at 8 p.m.


Jordan-Matthews 76, Providence Grove 50

The Jets cruised to a 9-0 mark and an opening win in Mid-State Conference play Friday night. The Jets led 39-23 at halftime and kept pulling away.

Jordan-Matthews will host Bartlett Yancey Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Albemarle 71, North Moore 46

North Moore led visiting Albemarle 16-15 after a quarter only for Albemarle (3-1 YVC) to storm ahead with a 33-6 advantage in the second quarter of Friday’s Yadkin Valley Conference game.

The Mustangs (4-5, 2-2) host West Montgomery in a league game Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.


Hoggard 54, Pinecrest 33

The Patriots fell on a trip to Wilmington Friday night, stopping a five-game winning streak. Pinecrest (6-2) hosted Marion last night and will host Lee County Monday for a 7:30 p.m. tip.


Gray’s Creek 71, Western Harnett 62

The host Bears (5-2, 1-0) opened their Cape Fear Valley season getting by the Eagles Friday night. Western Harnett (1-10, 0-2) will host Overhills in a league and county-rivalry game Tuesday night.

Grace Christian 63, Wayne Christian 33

Lady Crusader junior Anna Murr poured in 33 points and got 10 rebounds as Grace got a Carolina Christian Conference victory in Goldsboro.

Brooke Strickland had 14 points and eight rebounds. Alexis Ross had 10 points and seven assists. The Lady Crusaders led 40-12 at halftime.

Kelsey Kornegay led Wayne Christian with 20 points.

Grace Christian (12-2, 4-0) will host Faith Christian on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Overhills 58, Union Pines 37

Overhills held a 26-21 halftime lead and pulled away from the visiting Lady Vikings in a Cape Fear Valley game Friday night.

Lexie Coxe led Union Pines with 11 points. The Lady Vikings (3-5, 1-1) played Richmond County last night and will host Gray’s Creek Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Overhills (4-4, 2-0) will play at Western Harnett Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Gray’s Creek 47, Western Harnett 41

Gray’s Creek (2-5, 0-1) edged the Lady Eagles (0-11, 0-2) in a Cape Fear Valley game Friday night.

Taylor Williams scored 15 points and Jalyn Taylor scored 13 for Gray’s Creek.

Jonacia Harper and Geena Bryant scored 15 points apiece leading the Lady Eagles. Western Harnett welcomes Overhills Tuesday evening.

Jordan-Matthews 54, Providence Grove 40

Jordan-Matthews (9-0, 1-0) made it 40 consecutive victories with a Mid-State win over Providence Grove Friday night in Siler City.

Providence Grove led 18-15 after one quarter. The Lady Jets took the second and third quarters to hold a 38-29 advantage going to the fourth.

The Lady Jets host Bartlett Yancey in a conference contest Tuesday at 6 p.m.

North Moore 54, Albemarle 45

North Moore led by a point at halftime before winning the third quarter 21-9, moving ahead 45-32, to claim a Yadkin Valley Conference win Friday in Robbins.

The Lady Mustangs (6-3, 2-2) will host West Montgomery Tuesday at 6 p.m.


Pinecrest 39, Hoggard 34

The Lady Patriots (3-3) won on the road in Wilmington Friday night. Pinecrest played Marion last night and will host Lee County Monday for a 6 p.m. start.


Northwood 65, Carrboro 45

Shontai Totten scored 23 points and Gabby Mehringer scored 22 points leading the Lady Chargers to a Carolina 12 win Friday night at Carrboro. Northwood led 37-19 at halftime.

The Lady Chargers (5-2, 3-0) are off until playing in the Lee County Basketball Shootout starting Dec. 27.

Southeast Raleigh 45, Harnett Central 31

Southeast Raleigh (8-0, 2-0) handed the Lady Trojans (8-1, 0-1) their first loss of the season in a Greater Neuse River game Friday night.

Alexus Hicks led Southeast Raleigh with 19 points. DeAnneisha Jackson led Harnett Central with 16 points.

The Lady Trojans will play at Clayton Tuesday at 6 p.m.
