Mosley leads Old Dominion over East Carolina 68-47

Ambrose Mosley was 5 of 10 from 3-point range with 17 points as Old Dominion outshot East Carolina for a 68-47 victory on Thursday night.

Richard Ross added 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks for Old Dominion (15-16, 9-7 Conference USA), which finished the first half on a 7-1 run and extended it to 21-4 early in the second for a 42-24 lead with 14:50 to play.

East Carolina (16-15, 5-11) answered with four straight points to close the deficit to 14 and that was as close as it would get.

Aaron Bacote had 13 points and Dimitri Batten scored 12 for the Monarchs who shot 29 of 49 (59.2 percent) while holding the Pirates to just 14 of 47 (29.8 percent).

Caleb White had 12 points and Paris Roberts-Campbell added 10 for ECU. White was 5 of 15 from the field and Roberts-Campbell was 2 of 10.


N.C. Central 76, Norfolk St. 70

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Jeremy Ingram scored 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting as North Carolina Central hung on Thursday night for a 76-70 win over Norfolk State.

Leading by 3 at the break, N.C. Central (25-5, 15-1 MEAC) used a 16-5 run capped by an Emanuel Champman jumper to build its largest lead of the game, 68-53, with 4 minutes to go.

But Norfolk St. (17-13, 11-5) battled back, scoring 13 of the next 16 points, pulling to within 71-66 on a Pendarvis Williams layup with 36 seconds left before the drive stalled. The first-place Eagles protected what was left of their lead from the free throw line down the stretch.

Jordan Parks contributed 14 points, Chapman finished with 13 and Alfonzo Houston had 10 for NCCU, which shot 53 percent from the field to win its 17th straight game.

Malcolm Hawkins led the Spartans with 31 points and six rebounds.


Hampton 89, NC A&T 71

HAMPTON, Va. (AP) — Deron Powers scored 20 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Hampton over NC A&T 89-71 on Thursday.

Brian Darden and Dwight Meikle each added 13 points and Du'Vaughn Maxwell had 11 points and eight rebounds as Hampton (18-11, 13-3 MEAC) shot 52 percent, including 10 of 20 from beyond the arc.

NC A&T (9-22, 5-11) was led by Richaud Pack's 14 points. Lamont Middleton had 12, Khary Doby added 11 and Jeremy Underwood chipped in with 10.

Hampton trailed by one with 3:49 left in the first, but closed on an 11-6 run — including a 3-pointer by Breon Key — to lead 45-40 at the break.

The Pirates ran away with it in the second half. An 11-2 run early, then a 19-3 stretch that covered 7:14, sealed NC A&T's fate.


Charlotte 74, Marshall 70

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (AP) — Pierria Henry scored 26 points as Charlotte held off a late rally and defeated Marshall on the road 74-70 in the regular-season finale on Thursday night.

Henry shot 50 percent (8 of 16) from the floor and hit three 3-pointers. Mike Thorne Jr. added 18 points, Willie Clayton chipped in 15, and both finished with 10 rebounds each. Charlotte closed the season with two wins after dropping six straight contests.

The 49ers (16-13, 7-9 Conference USA) led by 10 with 3:31 left, but Marshall cut the deficit to three points with 8 seconds remaining after Kareem Canty scored 10-straight points for the Thundering Herd. Canty missed a last-second 3-pointer and Charlotte grabbed the rebound to close out the game.

Canty led Marshall (10-21, 4-12) with 22 points and seven assists, and Chris Thomas added 17 points and nine rebounds.
