• Johnston-Lee-Harnett Community Action Inc. will host a free, public workshop titled “Money Management: Pay Yourself First” at 1 p.m. at 225 S. Steele St., Sanford.

• Chatham Community Library will hold an American Girl doll event at 4 p.m. at the branch in Pittsboro. Children ages 8 and up are invited to bring their favorite dolls to meet the library's new doll, Molly. After the party, Molly will be available to be checked out for one week at a time. The event is free and open to the public, and will include snacks and games. Molly the doll is a gift from the Friends of the Chatham Community Library. She represents a typical girl who lived during World War II. The library also offers books about Molly and other American Girls for check out. SATURDAY

• The Sunrise Theater will present McKenzies Mill in concert at 7:30 p.m. at 250 N.W. Broad St. in downtown Southern Pines. Tickets are on sale now for $15. Seating is reserved. • The Sanford community is invited to a motorcycle poker run starting at 11 a.m. (kickstands up, registration at 10 a.m.) at the Horner Boulevard Kangaroo Express to help send kids to Victory Junction — a year-round camping environment for children ages 6 to 16 with chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses. The poker run will be $5 a hand, and the event will include family-friendly activities such as a bounce house, pie in the face, a hula hoop contest, raffles, line dancing and giveaway s, as well as a kids' karaoke contest with a $1 entrance fee.

• The Gregg Gelb Jazz Trio, with Grant Osborne, keyboard, Gregg Gelb, saxophone, and Chris Gelb, drums, will perform from 8-11 p.m. at the Brick City Oyster Bar & Grill, 1609 South Horner Blvd., Sanford.

• A Lee Christian School yard and bake sale will be held from 8 a.m.-noon on Keller Andrews Road. Clothes, furniture, toys and other items will be available.

• Broken Plow Farm welcomes visitors to an Easter egg hunt, offered at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the farm at 1851 Avents Ferry Road, Sanford. The cost will be $10 per person, and children under 2 are admitted free. The event includes the hunt, with hundreds of eggs, prizes, visits with the with Easter Bunny at Easter Village, barrel rides, 30-minute hay rides, access to a fort, rope maze, petting zoo, and games, and an educational portion about farming. • An intro to aquaponics workshop will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at The Plant, 220 Lorax Lane, Pittsboro, N.C. Aquaponics is a self-contained, sustainable system for growing fish and veggies. Join Mike Yablonski and Rachel Tinker-Kulberg for an introduction to the world of aquaponics. During this hands-on workshop, Mike and Rachel will show participants how to build their own backyard system. Registration is limited to 15 people, and pre-registration and pre-payment are required; the cost is $40 for the aquaponics workshop and $50 for the workshop plus a sandwich from Angelina’s. • The Central Carolina Jaycees will present their annual Easter Egg Hunt from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Kiwanis Family Park, 1800 Wicker St., Sanford. The event will feature egg hunts divided by age, games, prizes, face painting, balloon animals, an Easter basket raffle and Easter Bunny visits.

• A plant, shrubbery and long-leaf pine straw sale will be held from 9 a.m.-noon at the Lee County Arts & Community Center, 507 N. Steele St., Sanford. Long-leaf pine straw costs $4 per bale, and delivery will be available; contact Kevin at (919) 888-1158. All proceeds benefit the nonprofit Lee County Arts & Community Center.

• A food drive to feed Moore County will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Walmart, located at 250 Turner St. in Aberdeen. This is a drive to stock the shelves of United Way partner agency Sandhills/Moore Coalition for Human Care with pasta, cereal, tuna, canned beef stew, instant mashed potatoes, canned fruit, peanut butter, jelly, canned beans, 1-2 pound packages of rice and bar soap. • The fifth annual Spring Fling Open House will be held from 1–5 p.m. in Downtown Sanford. Open house activities may include special offers, events and complimentary refreshments. The event is put on by Downtown Sanford, Inc. and participating downtown merchants, who are asking consumers to “Shop LocalLee.”
