ATHENS, Ga. — David Ray Harward, 71, of Athens, Georgia, passed away Sunday (01/09/22).

David was born to Calvin and Lottie Harward in Sanford. He is predeceased by his father, Calvin and a nephew, Travis.

After high school, David worked in various positions where he honed skills in metalworking and machinery. During this time he married and moved to Georgia where he started a family while working at the University of Georgia Instrument Shop for 38 years.

David leaves his wife of 50 years, Kathy; his daughters Beth Spinella and her husband, Dominic and Becky Kitchens and her husband, Jeff; grandchildren Jacob and Ashleigh Kitchens and Jonathan and Tommy Spinella; his mother, Lottie Harward; brothers Tommy Harward, Lynn Harward and John Harward; sisters Linda Graham and Deneen Crowson; a sister-in-law, Deborah Ringley and numerous nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles.

A celebration of life will occur at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks well-wishers to make donations to Camp Rainey Mountain, a Boy Scout campground in North Georgia where many memories were made by David and his family over many of the last forty years.
