SANFORD — Frances Marie Beattie, 83, of Sanford, passed away Wednesday (09/08/21) at Westfield Rehabilitation & Health Center in Sanford.
Frances was born in Harnett County on Dec. 9, 1937, to John Robert and Mary West Godfrey. As a military wife she had the opportunity to live all over the world which inspired her love of travel.
She was an avid bridge player and member of the same bridge club for over 50 years. She loved to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events, cooking and watching cooking shows on TV.
She was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church and a lifetime member of St. Catherine’s Ladies Guild. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Her presence will be deeply missed.
She is survived by three children Roger Leo Beattie, II (Betsy), Vickie L. Spivey (Jacky) and Cheryl A. Stroud; one brother, Donald Robert Godfrey (Trudy); six grandchildren, Ryan, Zach, Rachel, Ricky, Noelle, and Racquel; and two great grandchildren, Haley and Landon Spivey.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Roger L. Beattie, a son, Rodney R. Beattie, and grandson, Brent Spivey.
A private service for the family will be held at a later date.
