SANFORD — Irene Flint Stanley Garver, 101, of Carolina Trace in Sanford, died peacefully in her sleep early Thursday morning (11/18/21).

Mrs. Garver was born in Kansas City, Kansas on March 30, 1920, where she was married for over 50 years to Scott Stanley Sr., a commercial realtor and real-estate investor. They had five children, Scott Jr. of Williamsburg, Virginia, John E. of Oakton, Virginia, the late Sharon Irene (Redwine) of Winston-Salem and Jeanne E. of Sanford.

Irene married Paul F. Garver following the death of her first husband, and they enjoyed homes in Sun City West, Arizona, Washington state; and Carolina Trace, in Sanford. Following Paul’s passing she lived for a time at Waltonwood in Cary before returning to another home in Carolina Trace.

Mrs. Garver asked that we report no further of her long and busy life than that she had five children, 16 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and “so far” 18 great-great grandchildren.

Irene was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church of Sanford where a celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, officiated by the Rev. Michael Edwards. A luncheon reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
