Lee County began its 2021-22 basketball seasons on Tuesday night, but came up short in two road contests at Montgomery Central High School.
The Yellow Jacket men were starting their campaign just a week after the end of the soccer and football seasons, but still gave the host Timberwolves a batter before coming up eight points short, 58-50.
In the women’s game, the Yellow Jackets were overmatched and came up on the short end of a 41-11 final score.
Lee will get another shot against these teams on Tuesday of next week, when Montgomery Central comes to town for the return games in what will be the second game of Lee’s season. On Friday night of next week, the Jackets’ men and women will host Overhills.
Southern falls to E.E. SmithThe Southern Lee men also began their season on Tuesday night, and it was also a rough night for the Cavaliers, who fell 80-39 in a road game.
The Cavaliers will try to get on track this Tuesday night when they travel to Southern Durham for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
It will be the first game of the new season for the Spartans.
