Bonnie Cupps, president of the Lemon Springs Ruritan Club is shown with James Estes and Carol Martindale.

The Lemon Springs Ruritan Club met recently and had a visit from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

President Bonnie Cupps opened the meeting by welcoming the guests. They spoke on the program at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office where once a week, people living alone in the county are called on Tuesday, doing a wellness check-in. If person reports a problem to Carol Martindale, she lets someone else in the department know and they can check it out.

They had applications to hand out if anyone wants to add someone to the list. This is a free service provided by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. If you go away or for vacation for a few days and want the Sheriff’s Office to do a check of your home/property, just call the office and give them the specifics. During the time you’re gone, someone from the department will check your home/property at least once, maybe twice a day.

Deputies are all over the county every day.

Cupps then presented James Estes with 20 of Rudy Bears to share with the sheriff’s department.
