Emma Lodge is ready to take her basketball and scholastic achievements to the next level.

Lodge, a senior volleyball and basketball player Lee Christian High School inked a letter of intent to play basketball at Meredith College on Thursday.

Lodge was named All-Conference in both volleyball and basketball and All-State in both sports.

She helped lead Lee Christian to a state championship in volleyball and runner-up trophy in basketball.

Lee Christian women’s varsity basketball coach Donna Taylor said Lodge has excelled both on and off the court.

“Emma is considered a 3 guard, a wing player who is very skilled at shooting threes,” Taylor said. “She’s a very high percentage shooter. She’s a stretch player. She’s going to go in and immediately impact Meredith’s program with her leadership on and off the court.”

Taylor said Lodge was the captain of the team and one of the leaders.

“I had the privilege to coach her for only two years,” she said. “She came over her junior year. I give a lot of credit to the people who helped develop her before I got the opportunity. I’m just happy to have been a part of the process to help her fulfill her dream to play at the next level. She is definitely a great student athlete. She will definitely go in and impact that program.”

Off the court, Lodge is Lee Christian’s valedictorian.

“She took care of her business academically,” Taylor said. “It’s very exciting for the school and very exciting for the Lodge family.”

Lodge took pictures with her teammates and family and then got down to the business of signing her offer in front of many of them.

“It’s very exciting,” Lodge said. “It’s been a little nerve wracking. I don’t like being the center of attention. It’s been very exciting. I’ve had a lot of mentors and people helping me out.”

Lodge said she can’t wait to get on the basketball court for Meredith.

“I’ve been looking forward to it for a while,” she concluded. “This has been a big dream of mine since I was little. I’m very excited to see what the future holds.”
