SANFORD — Mamie Lee French Nettles, 62, of Sanford, transitioned peacefully from this life on Wednesday (09/08/21).

Mamie was born June 25, 1959, to Lula Mae Mitchell French and Pete French. She was preceded in death by her parents, paternal grandparents Henderson, and Laura Mae Scurlock French; maternal grandparents Wiley Mitchell, and Mamie Brown; an infant brother; her son, Christopher Lamont French; two sisters, Wanda Marie McLean and Devera Ann French.

She attended Central High School where she received her high school diploma. She later went back to school and earned an associate degree in early childhood education. She became a certified nursing assistant.

Mamie leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters Latoya (Wade); Melissa French, and Barbara French; four sisters Marilyn French, Cynthia French, Lessie French and Pandora Johnson (Vernon), all of Sanford; thirteen grandchildren, Kiana, Keosha, Latrice, Shaniyah, Kadijah, Ke’Aundria, Kishauna, Areauna, Kira, NaQuan, TyShaun, Tyree and Sincere; two great grandchildren, Messiah and Chandler; a special niece and nephew, Deborah James and Lynn French; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Flowers are accepted through Wednesday at Knotts Funeral Home.

A funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Knotts Funeral Home. The funeral home requests all who attend please wear a mask and practice social distancing. Burial follows at Lee Memory Gardens.
