The Lee County Board of Elections office has moved to its new location near the Historic Lee County Courthouse.

The office is now at 1503 Elm St., Suite 1, and shares the building with the Department of Community Corrections.

A need to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act forced the office to move from its previous location on South Steele Street, according to a news release.

The new location will allow more parking, easier accessibility and additional storage space, the release said.

The Lee County Board of Commissioners will discuss plans for the former location, the release said.

“We are excited about our new space,” said Jane Rae Fawcett, director of the Board of Elections. “And we will continue to preserve and promote impartial elections for the citizens of Lee County.”

The Board of Elections is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and can be reached at 919-718-4646 or elections@leecountync.gov.
