Riley Barrett of Southern Pines was named to the spring semester Dean’s List at the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Sarah Scott of Bennett graduated May 15 from Dickinson State University in Dickinson, North Dakota.

Kurtis Gruters of Aberdeen received a Master of Science degree in analytics in May from The Georgia Technical Institute of Technology.

Katlynn Bradford of Spring Lake was named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.

Three area students were named to the Dean’s List at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina. They are Bryson Saunders of Bennett; Jillian Taylor of Bunnlevel; and Alyssa Gaines of Siler City.

Ryan Parham of Sanford graduated in May from The College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.

Also receiving degrees were four Southern Pines residents: Benjamin Frizzell received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre; John Ronalter earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; Haley McGuirt received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; and Sarah Sayce graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems.

Henry London of Sanford and Joshua Hager of Pinehurst were among the May graduates at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. London received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, while Hager received a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences.

Three Sanford graduates of Central Carolina Community College are recipients of the Presidents’ Scholars Program, which provides partial scholarships and application fee waivers to students who will be transferring to the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. They are Hannah Boyce, who will pursue studies in English; Vincent Shearin, who plans to study Business Administration; and William Tucker, who will study History.

These students have been named to the “A” Honor Roll at Calvary Education Center in Sanford: Second grade: Lily Knieriem, Linsey Knieriem; Third grade: Samuel Byrd; Fifth grade: Gabriel Simpson; Sixth grade: Wayne House; Eighth grade: Nathan Byrd; and Ninth grade: Bryce Simpson.

These students were named to Calvary’s A/B Honor Roll: First grade: Joy Eagle; Fifth grade: Noah Eagle; Seventh grade: Olivia Floyd; Eighth grade: Jocelyn Domingues, Katelyn Furmage and Emily Upchurch; 10th grade: Jaydyn Ellis and Demae Nathan.

Several Lee County students were recognized for academic achievements at Sandhills Community College in Pinehurst. Students earning a 4.0 grade-point average and named to the President’s List are: Mazen Alowdi, Brooke Brogan, Laque Franklin, Justin Marnoch and Melissa Veatch. Those who earned a 3.5 grade-point average and named to the Dean’s List are: MacKenzie Hare, Kelsey Johnson, Jonah Murr, Steven Smith and Itashka Wunderlich.

Nathaniel Cole Mansur of Aberdeen and Samantha Nicole Holley of Coats were named to spring semester Dean’s List at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa.

Three local students have been named to the spring semester Dean’s List at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. They are Lacey Mathis of Sanford; Hunter Phillips of Southern Pines; and Giles Corzine of Pittsboro.
