LILLINGTON — A Sanford man was killed Tuesday morning in a head-on crash on N.C. 24 in Harnett County, the Highway Patrol said.

The wreck was reported at 7:12 a.m. on N.C. 24 near Claude White Road, about six miles east of Cameron, according to a report filed by Trooper R.M. Lee.

Seth Ashton Cochrane, 19, of Cameron, driving a 2000 Dodge truck, was traveling east on N.C. 24, toward N.C. 87, when his vehicle crossed the center line, the report said.

It slammed head-on into a 1002 Dodge truck driven by Thomas Owen Partridge, 37, according to the report. Partridge ran off the road on the right side in an effort to avoid the collision, Lee reported.

Partridge was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said.

Cochrane was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, Lee reported.

No charges had been filed Tuesday afternoon.
