SOUTHERN PINES — A Southern Pines woman was arrested Tuesday after intentionally ramming a police car with her own vehicle, according to a news release.
It began when Southern Pines officers responded to a report of a public disturbance at Brookside Apartments on the 900 block of Richard Street, according to the release from the Southern Pines Police Department.
When officers arrived, Aasia Andrea Atkins, 28, “attempted to leave the scene by intentionally ramming her vehicle into the front of a Southern Pines Police Department patrol car,” the release said.
Atkins was taken to FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital for a medical evaluation, the release said.
Atkins is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, driving while impaired, careless and reckless driving, failing to reduce speed and resist/obstruct/delay an officer.
