SANFORD — Randy McKoy, 64, of Sanford, gained his heavenly wings Tuesday (04/13/21) at Duke Raleigh Hospital in Raleigh.
Randy McKoy was born in Sanford on Sept. 15, 1956, to James and Ethel B. McKoy.
Randy joins his parents and his two brothers Jimmy and Alvin in heaven.
Randy was an all-around great person. He was always filled with lots of laughter and jokes.
He loved his son, Randy Junior, and his three grandkids, Josiah, Jamaya and Rayshaun completely and wholeheartedly. Randy had a loving, heartwarming spirit.
He met no strangers and his favorite hobby was fishing.
He would always welcome you into his home with open arms. He might talk trash, but you were still welcome. He was a great father, grandfather and true friend, brother and uncle. Even with his sudden illness, Randy was a fighter until the very end.
His family, friends and the community he lived in will truly miss him and his warming smile
Left to cherish Randy’s memories are son, Randy J. Minter of Sanford; two grandsons, Josiah N. Douglas of Sanford, Rayshaun V. Minter of Spring Lake; granddaughter, Jamaya N. Minter of Sanford; two sisters, Joyce McKoy and Symertee Richardson, both of Sanford; three brothers, Bennie McKoy and James Harold McKoy, both of Sanford, and Larry McKoy of New Jersey. He also leaves a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, family and friends.
Visitation is noon-5 p.m. Tuesday at Knotts Funeral Home, 719 Wall St., Sanford. The funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
