SANFORD — Robert D. “Bob” Mangum, 71, of Sanford, died Tuesday (04/20/21) at home, with his family by his side.

He was born in Wake County on Aug. 15, 1949, to Robert Carlton Mangum and Jackie Pernell Wall Mangum. Bob was known for his quick wit and humor. Bob served our country in the National Guard at Fort Knox and played minor league baseball for the Kansas City organization. He had worked for both the Sanford Municipal Golf Course and Carolina Pools. Bob was a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church.

Bob is survived by his wife Regina Campbell Mangum; daughters, Kensi Mangum Ward and husband Justin of Wake Forest, Kalyn Mangum and fiancé Joey Surles of Sanford, Robin Mangum Langdon of Garner; sister Patricia Gray and husband Ozzie of the Outer Banks; and three grandchildren, Robert Jackson Ward, Brooke Langdon and Blaire Parrish.

A graveside service is 2 p.m. Friday at Flat Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Gary McCollough officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
