PITTSBORO — Xavier Lamont Smith, 43, of Pittsboro, departed his life Sunday (04/11/21) at Rex Hospital in Raleigh.

Xavier, known as “Red,” was born Jan. 2, 1978, to Darlene Smith. He was preceded in death by father, Ronnie Hackney; brother, Ronnie Hackney Jr.; and grandparents, Maline and Samuel Smith.

Red grew up in Moncure and attended Chatham County Schools.

He worked in brick masonry as he loved

to work with the mortar.

He loved to play dominoes and spades.

He loved music and dancing.

He leaves to mourn, daughters, Chana Smith of Charlotte, DeNavia Smith of Raleigh; son, Xavier Smith Jr. of Charlotte; mother, Darlene Smith of the home; stepfather, Willard Partridge of Durham; twin brother, Javier Smith; brothers Arsenio Smith of Siler City, Jordney Smith of Pittsboro, Ridge Smith of Pittsboro, Kabem Smith of Pittsboro, Willard Partridge Jr., Rodney Hackney of Fuquay-Varina; sisters, Jasmine Crump of Pittsboro, Ashley Ward (Tremayne) of Dunn and Yolanda Lassiter of Raleigh; aunt, Carlene Lundy of Sanford; uncles Carlton Smith of Moncure, Greg Smith of Raleigh, Quinn Smith (Sarah) of Broadway, Calvin Smith of Sanford; great-aunts and uncles, Clyde Gunter (Debra), Victor Gunter, Verta Green (Albert), Sharon Fuller (Jeffrey), Cherry Hackney and Carrie Hackney; nieces, Jyreah, Gracie, Milan, Aailyah, Anasia, Tristan, Daijah, Sarabi, and Savannah; nephews, Zimeen, Ahntej, Kinston, Jameer, Jamil, Rhonny and King;

a special friend, Amber Lewis, and a host of relatives and friends.

A public walk-thru viewing is 1-5 p.m. Friday at Knotts Funeral Home in Pittsboro.

The funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
