Football Southern Lee 28, Carrboro 8

The Cavaliers (1-1) won in their home opener, for their first win with head coach Michael McClure, at Cavalier Stadium Friday night. Southern Lee led 7-0 at halftime, then made it 28-0 in the third quarter.

The Cavs head into five straight Tri-County 6 games starting at Western Harnett (0-2) at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Southern Lee won last season’s meeting with the Eagles 42-6.

Forest Hills 14, Union Pines 12

Forest Hills scored a punt return touchdown late in the fourth quarter for the go-ahead points to top the Vikings (1-1) in Cameron Friday night.

Forest Hills led 7-0 going to the fourth quarter.

Union Pines will start Tri-County 6 play hosting Harnett Central at 7 p.m. Friday.

West Johnston 28, Western Harnett 14

Western Harnett led 14-7 at halftime but the Wildcats came back in the second half to win at Western Harnett on Friday night.

Xavier Jackson ran for a TD and Tristan Ung passed to Ian Bristow for a TD for the Eagles.

Western Harnett (0-2) will host Southern Lee at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

Clayton 30, Harnett Central 12

The Comets won at Harnett Central (0-2) Friday night.

The Trojans go into Tri-County 6 play going to Union Pines at 7 p.m. Friday.

South Johnston 20, Triton 19

South Johnston scored a touchdown to take the lead with four minutes left and won at Triton (0-2) Friday night.

Malachi Batts scored two touchdown runs and Malik McNeill ran for a TD for the Hawks.

Triton will play a Tri-County 6 game at Lee County (2-0) at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Northwood 7, Chapel Hill 6

The Chargers (2-0, 2-0) scored a touchdown on a blocked punt in the third quarter and it was enough to get a Big Eight win Friday night.

Northwood will host Southern Durham March 19.

North Stanly 24, North Moore 15

The Comets topped visiting North Moore in a Yadkin Valley game Friday night.

The Mustangs scored a touchdown to get within 17-15 with five minutes left in the game.

North Moore (0-2, 0-2) will host South Stanly at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Richmond 42, Pinecrest 35 (OT)

Richmond (1-0) won a Sandhills Athletic contest at Pinecrest (1-1, 1-1) Friday night. Pinecrest will play at Purnell Swett at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Baseball Grace Christian 20, Thales 1

The Crusaders (2-0) tallied runs in all five on innings in a win at Thales in Apex Friday afternoon. Alex Larson pitched four scoreless, one-hit innings to get the win.

Caleb Franklin, Braeden Voss, Jonah Garris and Jesse Mitchell got three hits each for the Crusaders. Garris and Jarret Crabtree drove in three RBI each.

Grace Christian hosts Village Christian at 4 p.m. today.

Girls lacrosse Chapel Hill 19, Northwood 8

Chapel Hill defeated Northwood Friday night. Kendall Laberge led the Lady Chargers with four goals. Northwood (3-7) played at Wakefield last night.

Girls soccer Greenfield 2, Lee Christian 1

Greenfield edged the Lady Falcons (0-1) on Friday. Lee Christian played at Cape Fear Christian yesterday and has a match at Kerr-Vance at 4:30 p.m. today.

Grace Christian 10, Thales 1

The Lady Crusaders (1-0) started their season with an easy win at home Friday.

Kaleigh Wilson led the scoring with four goals as Joelie Krevet and Jamie Cook scored two goals each and Kayden Michael and Zahra Fepessi scored a goal each.

Fepessi tallied four assists and Cook added two assists.

Grace Christian hosts Ascend Leadership at 4 p.m. today.
