Boys basketball Lee Christian 59, Southside Christian 22
The No. 4-seeded Falcons (8-8) routed Southside Christian in the first round of the NCISAA 1A State Tournament at Lee Christian Tuesday night.
Lee Christian advances to play a state quarterfinal game at 1A West No. 1-seed Victory Christian Center (18-7) in Charlotte on Friday.
Burlington Christian 60, O’Neal 51
Burlington Christian (12-4) defeated O’Neal (6-10) in the NCISAA 2A State Tournament first round Tuesday.
Jalen Lindsey led O’Neal with 18 points.
The Royals led 36-25 at halftime. The Falcons got within four, down 42-38, late in the third quarter but couldn’t make it closer.
Union Pines 44, Triton 32
The Vikings (7-3, 6-2) gained a season split with Triton (4-5, 4-3) in Erwin Tuesday night.
Union Pines led 16-4 after the first quarter. Ahmad Jones paced the Vikings with 12 points and Kelby Wright had 10 points. Dalen Thompson led the Hawks with 11 points.
Union Pines is scheduled to host Western Harnett at 7 p.m. Friday. Triton will play at Harnett Central at 7 p.m. Friday.
Chatham Central 81, South Davidson 52
The Bears (7-1, 4-1) romped out to a 23-4 lead in the first period and went on to win at Yadkin Valley rival South Davidson Tuesday night.
Chatham Central played North Moore last night and will host Uwharrie Charter at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Northwood 48, East Chapel Hill 28
Northwood (10-2, 10-2) avenged a one-point loss to East Chapel Hill earlier this Big Eight season with a blowout at home Tuesday night.
Northwood led 14-3 after the first period. Freshman Drake Powell had 16 points, six rebounds and four blocked shots and freshman Jarin Stevenson had 10 points and four assists for the Chargers.
Northwood will play at Vance County at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Uwharrie Charter 65, Chatham Charter 44
Uwharrie Charter gave the Knights (11-1, 9-0 Central Tar Heel) their first loss of the season Tuesday night.
Trevor Golden scored 15 points and Adam Harvey scored 13 for the Knights.
Chatham Charter will play at North Rowan at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Girls basketball Union Pines 51, Triton 30
Union Pines (10-1, 8-1) moved into first place alone in the Tri-County 6, clinching at least a season co-title, Tuesday night at Triton (10-2, 7-2).
Aaliyah Balser led UP with 23 points and Sara Adams added 10 points. UP led 28-14 at halftime.
A’Shari Watlington scored 12 points for the Lady Hawks.
Union Pines will host Western Harnett at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Triton will play at Harnett Central at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Western Harnett 39, Lee County 35
The Lady Eagles (5-7, 2-7) topped Lee County (2-8, 2-7) at Western Harnett Tuesday evening.
Lee County will host Southern Lee at 5:30 p.m. Friday. The Lady Jackets won game one of the county rivalry 46-22.
Western Harnett will play at Union Pines at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Harnett Central 54, Southern Lee 18
Harnett Central (8-2, 6-2) beat the Lady Cavaliers (1-8, 1-7) in a Tri-County 6 game Tuesday night.
Point guard Brittany Mills scored 22 points and got four steals for the Lady Trojans. Syniah McMiller had 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
Southern Lee will play at Lee County at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Harnett Central will host Triton at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Northwood 48, East Chapel Hill 35
Northwood (11-0, 11-0) remained unbeaten with a win at home Tuesday night and has clinched the Big Eight season championship.
Te’Keyan Bland had 14 points for Northwood while Mckenna Snively had nine points and four steals and Caroline Allen had seven points and seven rebounds.
North Stanly 39, Chatham Central 34
The Lady Comets beat Chatham Central (3-3, 3-2) in a Yadkin Valley game Tuesday night.
Chatham Central played North Moore last night and will host Uwharrie Charter at 6 p.m. Friday.
Boys soccer Lee County 4, Harnett Central 0
The Yellow Jackets (1-2, 1-2) blanked Harnett Central for a Tri-County 6 victory Tuesday night in Sanford.
Logan Jordan, Pedro Perez, Alejandro Villatoro and Melvin Vasquez scored a goal each while Perez, Jordan, Nathan McGehee and Eduardo Aguirre had an assist each. Ivan Lopez and Orfael Santos played a half each in goal getting the shutout for the Jackets.
Harnett Central (0-3, 0-2) will play at Triton at 6 p.m. Monday. Lee County will play at Southern Lee at 6 p.m. Monday.
Girls lacrosse Terry Sanford 21, Union Pines 5
Terry Sanford topped the Lady Vikings (2-3) for the second time this season Tuesday evening in Fayetteville.
Union Pines will host Jack Britt at 6 p.m. Friday.
Boys lacrosse Pinecrest 20, South Garner 1
The Patriots (5-1) rolled to a win at home Tuesday night.
Freshman Weston Thomson led the Patriot scoring with four goals and two assists. Twelve Patriots tallied goals. Ben Wolfe scored three goals. Henry Rust, Logan Laton and Marco Wellener scored two goals each. Laton made five assists.
Pinecrest will host Terry Sanford at 7 p.m. Friday.
