Harnett Central 61, Smithfield-Selma 11

Harnett Central (1-0) cruised in their season opener at home Wednesday night.

Shay Ward paced HC with 14 points and five rebounds. Syniah McMiller had 13 points and five rebounds. Lyanah Molyneaux had 10 points. Brittany Mills tallied nine points and seven assists.

The Lady Trojans went 18-6 overall and 8-2 to finish second in the Tri-County 6 last season.

Harnett Central plays at Smithfield-Selma at 6 p.m. today.

Red Springs 31, Southern Lee 16

The Lady Red Devils topped the Lady Cavaliers (0-1) in Red Springs Wednesday night.

Southern Lee will tip off Tri-County 6 play at Western Harnett at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Southeast Raleigh 73, Lee County 8

Southeast Raleigh, which went 27-1 and was a co-state champion — reaching the state final then having the final canceled due to the coronavirus — in NCHSAA 4A last season, routed Lee County (0-1) in the Lady Jackets’ opener in Raleigh Wednesday night.

Lee County will start conference play hosting Triton at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Smithfield-Selma 59, Harnett Central 55

The Spartans edged the Trojans (0-1) at Harnett Central Wednesday night. Seven McClain scored 16 points and Chris Mills scored 11 for Harnett Central. The Trojans play at Smithfield-Selma at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

O’Neal 67, Thales 43

The Falcons (4-6, 0-2 Triangle-Triad Athletic) notched a win at home Wednesday night.

O’Neal hosts conference foe Trinity Academy at 7 p.m. today.
