The Lady Eagles (2-0) claimed a two-game sweep vs. South Johnston, winning at home Tuesday night.

Makenyia Mackey paced the Lady Eagles with 10 points.

Western Harnett will host Southern Lee, for the Tri-County 6 opener for both squads, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Chatham Charter 68, Research Triangle 38

The Lady Knights (2-0, 2-0) cruised in the second half to top the Lady Raptors in Siler City Tuesday night. Chatham Charter pulled away after leading 24-17 at halftime.

Chatham Charter plays at Wakefield at 6 p.m. today.

Cape Fear 41, Overhills 26

Cape Fear (1-0, 1-0) won a Patriot Athletic game at Overhills (0-3, 0-3) Tuesday night. The Lady Colts won the fourth quarter 9-1 to seal the win.

Shetarra Paige and Maaika Dones scored seven points each for the Lady Jaguars.

Overhills will play at Union Pines at 6 p.m. Friday.

Cary Christian 48, O’Neal 41 — OT

Cary Christian gave O’Neal (8-1, 2-0 Triangle-Triad) its first loss of the season Tuesday in Cary.

O’Neal will host TTAC for Trinity Academy at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Purnell Swett 58, Pinecrest 30

The Lady Rams (2-0, 2-0) ran away from Pinecrest (1-1, 1-1) in a Sandhills Athletic game Tuesday night.

Pinecrest led 9-8 after a quarter. Purnell Swett led 23-11 at halftime.

Pinecrest will play at Lumberton at 5 p.m. Friday.

Chatham HomeSchool 59, Durham HomeSchool 23

The Thunder (11-1, 2-1) routed the Durham Flight Tuesday night. The Thunder blanked Durham 15-0 in the second quarter to build a 31-8 halftime lead.

Chatham plays Faith Christian at 5:30 p.m. today.

Overhills 51, Cape Fear 48

The Jaguars (1-2, 1-2) edged the Colts for a PAC win in Spring Lake Tuesday night.

Wing Ayden Gittens led the Jaguars for 24 points. Center Damien Robinson posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 boards.

Overhills will play at Union Pines at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Southeast Raleigh 77, Lee County 43

The Bulldogs (1-1) defeated the Yellow Jackets as Lee County opened its season on the road Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs led 20-10 a quarter in and 40-22 at halftime.

Lee County will play its home and Tri-County 6 opener versus Triton at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Westover 86, Southern Lee 45

The Wolverines and North Carolina commit D’Marco Dunn topped the Cavaliers (1-1) in Fayetteville Tuesday night.

Dunn led Westover with 29 points.

Southern Lee played at Red Springs last night and will begin Tri-County 6 Conference play at Western Harnett at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

South Johnston 59, Western Harnett 31

South Johnston (2-0) beat the Eagles (0-2) at Western Harnett Tuesday night. South Johnston led 25-20 at halftime.

Misha-El Vines led WH with 10 points.

Western Harnett will host Southern Lee at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Chatham Charter 61, Research Triangle 51

The Knights (3-0, 3-0) earned a key Central Tar Heel win over the Raptors (2-1, 2-1) in Siler City Tuesday night.

Chatham Charter is the defending CTHC season and tournament champ. Research Triangle finished second and lost to the Knights in the tournament final last season.

Chatham Charter will play at Clover Garden at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Cary Christian 56, O’Neal 47

Cary Christian (9-3) topped the Falcons (3-6, 0-2 Triangle-Triad) in a non-conference game Tuesday.

O’Neal played Thales Academy last night and will host Trinity Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.


New Hanover d. Harnett Central 25-9, 20-25, 25-21, 25-14

No. 4-seeded New Hanover (8-5) defeated No. 13 Harnett Central in the NCHSAA 3A State Tournament first round Tuesday night in Wilmington.

Harnett Central finished second in the Tri-County 6 and ends the season 8-4.
