Union Pines 7, Harnett Central 2

The Lady Vikings (1-1, 1-0) won their Tri-County 6 opener at home Tuesday evening.

Union Pines scored three to take a 3-0 in the second. Harnett Central (1-2, 0-1) made it 3-2 in the third inning. Union Pines added four runs for a cushion in the bottom of the fifth.

Marissa Fuller pitched five innings, allowing no earned runs with four hits, a walk and four strikeouts, and got the win. Madison Wagner came on in relief and pitched two scoreless innings.

Lillian Jolly went 2 for 4 with two runs and two RBI for UP while Corryn McCutchin went 2 for 2 with a triple, two walks and two runs and Wagner went 2 for 3 and got two RBI.

Union Pines will play at Southern Lee at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Harnett Central played Western Harnett last night and will play at Lee County at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Chatham Central 12, North Rowan 0

The Lady Bears beat North Rowan in five innings in a Yadkin Valley game Tuesday night. The Lady Bears (3-1, 2-1) played Gray Stone yesterday and their next game is set for April 13 at North Stanly.

Triton 2, North Johnston 0

The Lady Hawks scored the decisive runs in the home half of the sixth to top North Johnston Tuesday.

Freshman Aubree Bass pitched a three-hit shutout and fired 11 strikeouts for the Lady Hawks.

In the Triton sixth, Kaila Cooney hit an RBI triple scoring Takyra McLean, followed by Gracyn Slaughter hitting an RBI single to score Cooney.

Triton (2-2) played Southern Lee last night and will play at Western Harnett at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Southwestern Randolph 13, Jordan-Matthews 1

The Lady Cougars broke open a tight game with 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth, taking a 13-1 lead, and went on to win in Asheboro Tuesday night. Jordan-Matthews (0-3, 0-2) played Wheatmore last night and will play at Providence Grove at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Northern Durham 13, Northwood 2

Northern Durham beat Northwood (2-2, 2-2) in a Big Eight game Tuesday night. Northwood will play at Vance County at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Gray Stone 11, North Moore 1

Gray Stone won a YVC game in Robbins Tuesday. North Moore (2-2, 2-2) will play at Albemarle April 13.

Jack Britt 8, Pinecrest 1

Jack Britt topped the Lady Patriots in a Sandhills Athletic game Tuesday night. Pinecrest (0-5, 0-5) will host Hoke County at 6 p.m. Monday.

Boys tennis

Pinecrest 9, Purnell Swett 0

The Patriots (5-0, 4-0) won a pair of matches in a SAC doubleheader at Purnell Swett Tuesday. Pinecrest will play at Lumberton April 13.
