Boys basketball Union Pines 54, Lee County 44

The Vikings (2-1, 1-0) topped visiting Lee County (0-3, 0-2) in Tri-County 6 action Friday night.

Lee County led 21-17 at halftime. Union Pines held a 34-31 lead going to the fourth quarter.

Kelby Wright led UP with 13 points and Jameson Rembert scored 12. Malachi McLean led the Jackets with 13 points.

Union Pines plays at Southern Lee at 7 p.m. tonight.

Lee County hosts Garnett Central at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Community Christian 70, Grace 60

The Cyclones won a Mid-Carolina game at Grace Christian (11-11, 3-1) Friday night.

The Crusaders played Central Carolina Prep last night and play at Thales Academy at 6 p.m. this evening.

Pinecrest 68, Seventy-First 54

The Patriots (3-1, 1-0) got out to a big lead in the first half, to a 35-21 lead at the half, and won their Sandhills Athletic opener at home Friday night.

Senior Bradlee Haskell poured in 36 points for the Patriots.

Pinecrest, the defending champ in the SAC, continues conference play at Richmond at 7 p.m. tonight.

Jordan-Matthews 57, Wheatmore 53 OT

The Jets (4-1, 3-1) went to 2-0 in overtime games for the week, prevailing at home over the Warriors Friday night.

Jordan-Matthews won the OT period 8-4.

The Jets play another PAC 7 game at Providence Grove at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

Pine Forest 76, Overhills 75(OT)

Pine Forest got a game-tying 3-pointer at the buzzer to go to overtime, then the Trojans won in OT at Overhills Friday night.

Damien Robinson led the Jaguars with 14 points and eight blocks.

The Jaguars (1-5, 1-4) host E.E. Smith at 7 p.m. tonight.

The Eagles won a non-conference contest vs. North Moore (1-1, 1-0) Friday night. North Moore plays a Yadkin Valley game at South Davidson at 7:30 p.m. tonight.

East Chapel Hill edged the Chargers (4-2, 4-2) in a Big Eight game Friday night. Northwood hosts Vance County for a conference game at 7 p.m. tonight.

The Vikings topped O’Neal (4-7, 0-3) in a Triangle-Triad Athletic game at O’Neal Friday night.

O’Neal played Lee Christian last night and will play at Burlington Christian Friday night.

The Bears (4-0, 3-0) drilled Gray Stone in a YVC game in Misenheimer Friday night. Chatham Central will host Uwharrie Charter at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Girls basketball Union Pines 52, Lee County 13

The Lady Vikings (3-0, 1-0), the defending champ in the Tri-County 6, rolled to a win in their conference opener versus Lee County Friday night.

Emma Ring and Sara Adams scored nine points each for UP. Aaliyah Balser had six points and 10 rebounds. Union Pines led 29-1 at halftime. Sinara White led Lee County with five points.

Lee County (0-3, 0-2) hosts Harnett Central at 6 p.m. this evening. Union Pines plays at Southern Lee at 5:30 p.m. this evening.

Lee Christian 75, Crossroads 6

Lee Christian (9-3, 5-0) blanked Crossroads Christian 20-0 in the first quarter and cruised to a Mid-Carolina win Friday night.

Taylor Woods had 15 points and seven rebounds for the Lady Falcons. Reily Johnson, Emma Lodge and Kelyce McSwain scored 14 points apiece. Jordan Langston had a team-high nine rebounds. McSwain tallied seven rebounds and six steals. Lodge made seven steals. Lee Christian played at O’Neal last night and hosts Crossroads Christian at 6:30 p.m. this evening.

Grace Christian 55, Community Christian 33

The Lady Crusaders (9-7, 4-1) rolled to a Mid-Carolina win, for four wins in a row, at home Friday night. Grace Christian led 16-2 after a quarter. The Lady Crusaders then had a 19-8 advantage in the third quarter to build a 39-20 lead. Grace Christian played Central Carolina Prep last night and will play at Berean Baptist at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

Seventy-First 56, Pinecrest 53

Seventy-First gained a regular-season split with the Lady Patriots (2-3, 2-2) Friday night in Southern Pines. Pinecrest plays at Richmond at 5 p.m. this evening.

Pine Forest 66, Overhills 57

The Lady Trojans won the fourth quarter 27-17 to get a Patriot Athletic win at Overhills Friday night.

Janiah Gary-Cole had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Jaguars. Maaika Dones had 13 points and Elizabeth Mitchell had 10 points for the Lady Jaguars. Overhills (1-5, 1-4) hosts E.E. Smith at 6 p.m. this evening.

O’Neal 54, Salem Baptist Christian 34

O’Neal (9-1, 3-0) stayed undefeated in the TTAC with a victory at home Friday evening. The Lady Falcons played Lee Christian last night and will go to Burlington Christian Friday evening.

The Thunder cruised to a win Friday night. Savannah Davis led the Thunder with 21 points as Kimberley Cunningham scored 16, Jordan Poindexter had 14, Jeinfer Lefler had 11 and Hallie Ritter had 10 points. Jenna Brooks tallied 11 assists. Ritter got eight rebounds.

The Lady Chargers (5-0, 5-0) cruised to a Big Eight win Friday night. Northwood played Chapel Hill last night and hosts Vance County at 6 p.m. this evening.
