Except for the occasional showdown with a charter school able to draw talent from a much larger area, facing Chatham Central in women’s tennis has for many years been likely to result in defeat for those who attempted it.

Southern Lee’s tennis team stepped out of conference play on Thursday and added another tally to the “W” column by beating Chatham Central despite the absence of the team’s top singles player.

Lee County and several other volleyball teams from around the area will take part in a scrimmage at LCHS on Saturday morning and afternoon.

For many, the 2021 high school baseball season was one to remember for all of the wrong reasons. The season started late, ended late, and was curtailed due to the effects of COVID-19.

Chatham Charter freshman Mackenzie Crossman was one of 45 high school women golfers to compete in the NC High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 1A/2A State Championships on Tuesday, May 11 at Pinehurst No. 8.

ROBBINS — North Moore running back Justis Dorsett ran for eight touchdowns and 367 yards, not for the season, but in one game, a 77-50 Mustang victory over Yadkin Valley rival Chatham Central Thursday night.

Final games, for some teams perhaps only regular-season finales, involving Union Pines, North Moore and Pinecrest have been moved up to this evening.
