Central Carolina 110, Guilford Tech 85

The Cougars started the season racing to triple digits, largely thanks to draining 26 3-pointers, and a 25-point victory at Guilford Tech Friday night in Greensboro.

Montell Moore made 5-of-5 from 3-point range and scored 21 points total leading the Cougars, who made 26 of 43 (60.5%) of their 3-pointers.

Camaron Womble, Derek Gardner and Wesley Case made four triples each. Joshua Bell and Antonio Jones made three threes each. The Cougars made 26 3-pointers and 14 two-point field goals.

Gardner scored 18 points while Case had 16 points, Womble had 14 points, Bell 13 and Darnell Carver 10. Womble dished nine assists. Moore got seven rebounds.

Patrick Henry 74, Central Carolina 71

On Sunday afternoon in Martinsville, Va., the Cougar shooting fell just short. Central Carolina made 13 of 32 (40.6%) three-pointers. The Patriots rallied 47-33 in the second half.

Moore led the Cougars with 17 points, including five 3-pointers, and seven rebounds. Womble had 13 points and six assists. Gardner had 14 points, including four threes.

Central Carolina (1-1) will play its home opener, hosting Louisburg at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in Sanford.
